Yeah sounds good, the varex mufflers don’t sound as good as the magna flow one I did have on, but the varex ones serve a good purpose of trying to shut it up when need be

So who has used a 286 compared to a cam similar to like I listed to compare the results ??

Just because people have used it doesn’t make it great for the job

Crane 284 is a VERY good off the shelf boosted cam. Tried and tested.

so if you your self cava had a stock or fearly stock 5L and where putting a cam and blower on it would you put a crane 284 in it ?

Or would you choose something like a 220-226 114 LSA 0.480 ? Or around that region

And it’s a vortech blower we are talking about here not a turbo engine, because a turbo acts like a low comp N/A engine till it spools up bring the intake and exhaust durations duration a little closer together makes sence and can also go a little less on the LSA as turbos don’t push intake charges out the exhaust as Easley as supercharger engines do

but this is a vortech blower engine we are talking about

Carnt wait till the price comes down to the high $4g mark and it’s a few years from now

One of them will be in my bay in a 383 CI range one day with a shit load of boost and heaps of meth injection and e85 and a few hundered hp of nos

I wouldn’t recommend that cam for a supercharged holden 5L engine at all, if it’s already fitted in engine then yeah could keep it but it’s not perfect at all

I would suggest 114 LSA, I would go 115LSA on a Yella terra top mount blower

unless you have a off it’s tits solid cammed 355-383 with power range from 3000-7000rpm and 13psi + boost as much head work as possible built for mid to top end power when you can start to go for 112 LSA if you choose to and even then it still very controversial and most will still advice 114 LSA even at this level

And what ever duration you get you want the exhaust to be some where from 4-10 degrees more on the exhaust side

Supercharged holden 5.0L are mostly about getting the exhaust gasses out and that’s why you need this extra exhaust duration

    So would go
220-224 for entry stock motor nice to drive smooth full rpm range power
    222-228
    224-230
224-234 with a bit of work to motor

Personally I would stick with 6-8 degrees extra on exhaust

If you go down this path call crane or come racing or a cam specialist to choose a grind and don’t get a N/A designed cam that is almost right

For the power SSEn8r is after and time money and effort he wants as he has to pay mechanics to do the swap I think cavas engine combo is perfect

It will be a 2 day at mechanic turn around, minimal labour cost and good bang for dollar, afterwards can either keep your original motor or sell it to get some of the money back

Like cava says, throw in the pump he has listed and it’s all a direct bolt In and away you go, then if you throw in some 3.9 or 4:11 you got a high 11 or low 12 second car for under $10 grand mods

That will be hard to beat for them dollars

Making fly screens for my rental That’s not the sucky part, the sucky part is I got aluminium fly screen instead of fibre glass type Anyone who has made fly screens and tryed both types will know what I’m talking about

I feel your pain haha….. Doing the same thing to my place.

    Get fibre glass screen

If you don’t and instead get the aluminium screen you will loose your temper when you get to the 3rd side and it wants to tear the alumium

I had so e fibre glass screen here from ages ago, that only did 4 of my 9 screens

The other 5 did not go well

Iv gone down the blowen stroked holden path, I admit it did cost a few $$$ but I could have done it cheaper if I didnt want it so flash

I would point you in that direction as well, just a strong bottom end in 304, cam lifters springs and rocker upgrade on top end and a wripple blower like a yells terra blower or something is what I would do if I wanted the cheapest way to go about it but have something very very fun to drive

Yeah the last Monaro went to guy west of where I live, and I though it went for $200k, I could be wrong, but it did get auctioned off

I would say They will bring out a 2 door to compete with the 2 door mustang but it should be the camaro and corvette

And stuff it bring viper here to

That is a lot of work, it’s gear box change, wiring harness, ecu, fuel pump, fitting exhaust to it, tune, and so on

Cavas motor would be very simple easy change over and if you have to pay people to do the work that will add up quickly
