I do know what your saying but I highly doubt the springs in this kit are stiffer then what most use in race car
And the sets up vary a lot Iv seen some where they squat Incredible redulious amounts and others that seam stiff as and both seam to launch with the right tyres on
April 8, 2015 at 11:45 pm #4321Yeah adjustable is the way of the future
Iv had my car on all sorts of heights since having the coil overs and can find that sweet spot you like
My car now though there is no way I would recommend you go that low if you use it regually
I’m only that low as my car goes from shed around roads, never sees a speed hump or stupid angle or 4 people either and comes home stopping in at the servo on the way
Personally if I used my car more witch I will start to soon I would lift it 10-15 mm above this
It’s amazing how much 10-15mm does when trying to get in drive ways and stuff lol
April 8, 2015 at 11:27 pm #4320Yeah they would be heaps stiffer then king ssl that’s for sure They match the front springs in the coil over kit and it’s not really designed for comofort it’s designed to stop body roll and handle well for street car that wouldn’t mind seeing a track They have other shocks and springs if you want comfort The kit they come with has adjustable rear shocks and and when on soft it’s not to bad but still stiff and when it’s on hard it’s not comfortable at all, would be ok if the road was perfect and had really smooth roundabouts
You got XYZ yeah? How u find them?
nar pedders extreme XA coil overs
They are good for my car as that’s what suits it
I used it for about 30 or 40 thousand km or more on this suspension and it’s good if your after a $2k suspension system to handles decently and your not after a lounge chair on wheels
Hard is rock hard and drifts like a champion and breaks loose every where even when it was basically stock
I usually use myn on mid way witch is 15 clicks from soft
That’s about the sweet spot for the amount I use my car
If I used it more then 3 times a week and become cruiser over a bullet out of the gates I would go more 5 or 10 clicks from soft
All the way to Soft when on hi way and it’s nice
Still stiff compared to flop about suspension but not uncomfortable
And if I ever get serious on drags I’ll just throw some FE2 rear springs in and try different setting on rear shocks to get it to launch

April 8, 2015 at 8:03 pm #4301I would say slightly lower for a guess
Maybe 10-15 mm lower
April 8, 2015 at 8:02 pm #4300April 8, 2015 at 7:58 pm #4298The rear springs are same as I currently have and are pedders
They are of there XA coil over kit and are adjustable in height
April 8, 2015 at 5:40 pm #4274I really think we are looking at this from the wrong angle
We are comparing modern LS engines of today to holden 304 and 346 stroker from 20+ years ago
Why not compare the holden 304 and there 5.7 215i stroker partners to say L81 l82 and l83 307 and 350 chevs for a comparable of the times with similar comps and CI
I’m sure if holden continued building the holden engine up to today it would be greatly improved by now coming out in hi comp to complete with the LS doin basic tune exhaust cam packages to make good power on a comparable level
It’s like comparing a camery engine of today to the one 20+ years ago
April 8, 2015 at 5:02 pm #4266Chippy by trade
Currently jumping through hoops to get builders licence
Did cabinet making for 4 years after school doin kitchens and shop fit outs, though stuff that and went worked for few builders doin every thing, architectural designed houses, few industrial sheds, aeroplane hangers, couple restaurants and ended up with my tradeThen went into the mining construction, did some entry ways to under ground mines and did maintance at various sites and did 3 years at HPX3 project, did the foundations, built a 2km trestle, and did the drainage
Now back to maintance/small jobs at mines deciding what to do in life
April 8, 2015 at 1:56 pm #4251Oo snap
How is that Vk coming along ??
April 8, 2015 at 10:22 am #4232And also they make a 555 hp witch they say isnt great for efi but that’s only because it’s cam is in the 25# 26# range but lots have these cams in efi quite fine
Iv got a mate with a 26# 26# cam in a 355 VS senator that drives it 300+ km one way quite often and you would be supprised how user friendly it is
And that power is on 98
If you switch heads to comes alloys, put a 383 crank instead of 355 and slightly raise comp for e85 and if that doesn’t make 600hp then I will chop of my big toe, add a vac pump and there still more there to be had
I would say just raise comp and 383 would get on the 600hp door steps for $15-16k and I would bet that price has manifold and carbie so ditching that is where the price would come down a bit
It’s not all that hard to do for very smart engine builders, it just is when some one starts picking each piece of the build that isnt a smart engine builder and thinks he knows best because he has read street commodores mags power up tips section
Look at the ford engines they build
Over 800hp out a 434 CI on 98
April 8, 2015 at 7:16 am #4223Maybe the Aussie dollar goin to shit has raised the price because my engine is a 355 gold pro with up graded
head gaskets
2000 series bolts
Cast crank to forged was from $700 from $2700
Arp head stud kit
Custom ground cam in any spec
And few other things and that just over $15 kPavteks heads for me was $3k and goin from them to alloys would of been $1 to 2 k more as you say 4-5 k total
Pavteks orgional price before these changes for a of the shelf engine 2 years ago $12 k with me supply block is is another $1000 if you don’t have it
April 7, 2015 at 8:20 pm #4198Fronts are KHFL47HD
Rears are KHRL46SL
Are filthy as I have never cleaned them and have been in cupboard for years
$50 plus what ever postage is, if it’s just the springs I carnt see it been over $30
I can take he front springs of the shocks unless you want them to but you would have to pay postage witch would be a little extra and they are average, would be better of getting new shocks
If you look on my manta thread the first pic is the ride height with these springs but the rear is probley 10-15mm lower as they use to have air bags in them

Did you get my reply email ?
April 7, 2015 at 7:54 pm #4190Streetable is all in the tune
Iv seen some big cammed Holden engines behave surprisingly well lately, just as good as decent cammed LS engines
I’m not saying it’s a easy walk in the park to do bit the people iv been talking to who have got 600hp N/A engines havemt spent massive coin
It’s more they are just very smart and know what there doin and how to build a good combo that works
On 98 it’s a stupid job to achieve but bit high comp and e85 makes it easier to achieve these days

April 7, 2015 at 7:43 pm #4181This cost $12 grand
Tell them to throw a 383 crank and rods in it and to make the comp 13.0:1 and I’ll bet my left testie it makes 600hp on e85
And I bet it comes in under $13 grand
The biggest price blow out would be it’s right on the limits of needing come 600series heads and would blow the cost out another $1 or 2 grand over the Pavteks full race port heads
Dam it why won’t links work ??
Pavteks gold pro 355 is the link

April 7, 2015 at 7:13 pm #4178I only have one of these for my VS
Make these but in a 5 speed and R in 6th spot
But I’ll just keep this one as I have 6speed
And I’m with Gary but I’m goin a PPG t56 sequential dog box
Much cheaper then a hollenger and still uses a normal clutch and slave ciylendar so it’s a straight bolt in

If I went my motor in 383 with 13.0:1 hi comp for e85 it would of come in about 2k cheaper or pretty much exactly the same as $12500 as I have the steel crank not a cast crank
So could have a 600+hp N/A holden for about the same cost of the lsx454
I know the lsx can be upgraded more though just saying for the conversion sake
I think the winning bang for buck now for 650-800hp and reliable is a LSA create engine
April 6, 2015 at 8:23 pm #4084If you sell those tail lights for money I’ll slap u.
In the bin !!!
sold the tail lights cava lol and he owns a GTS
April 6, 2015 at 7:23 pm #4081And I carnt weld for shit but don’t care, serves it’s purpose and works well, I just don’t let boiler makers look at it lol
