So first thing I got the suspension fitted and all set up

then I started on fitting the kit witch did require a fer bit of work

So got front end and side skirts fitted and all fixed up then primed the front end, side gaurds bonnet , and side skirts and wet rubbed them with 800 ready for paint

Then I started fitting rear spoiler

So picked up this Monaro as it looks in these pics, paint is faided and all carpements in it where broken, window had falling into bottom of door the day I got it, front suspension was flogged out, needed new tyres all round, window switch was stuffed, mirror switch was stuffed and drivers door trim is peeling up

apart from cat back shit force system it is 100% stock

got new tyres and managed to get it registered and mechanicly it’s nice to drive

within a few days  I had window and mirror switches replaced, fitted new sliders to fix window and got the little clips to fix all carpments in it so only the door trim is stuffed now

picked up peddlers XA coil overs for $500 and fitted them and got some camber caster bushes to fit

picked up 1 7/8 difillipno extractors for few hundred of a mate who is goin turbo and got a alloy OTR for couple hundred

I’m using the mufflers I originally had on my manta so it’s all SS and will be twin 3 inch and is just a set of eBay mid mufflers and diffilipno twin 3inch in/out rear muffler witch means I will have to fit a decent cam to get some air flowing through the pipes

Got a GTO/GTS style kit and also got a genuin GTO rear wing and am in the process of painting it in cherry black

Nar robs not painting this one

he works for a mass production company that pumps out a shit load of smash repairs jobs, not a chance he could use the booth for this with out them charging me a fortune

my brother in law Shane is a spray painter, he use to do lots of flash paint jobs, did a few Porsches, sandmans xb coupes and stuff he was telling me he spent 10hours in the booth in 1 day on a AC cobra once when where masking it up

very good painter, now is a fire fighter

will make a thread when I have some spare time, but for now I’m loosing my shit trying to get the doors off

cheers sotta, the black inserts are a really nice touch to it

I love how it’s got the 2 tone on front end, side skirts and rear end but unless it’s in the light you can not notice it

it’s the perfect match and exactly what I wanted

also very glad I got the upper model 610 series paint for it and not the normal old 600 series paint

very very happy with the out come on these parts and the cost is the best part

goin in to pull of a full paint job for under $2k again

might make a thread for it when it’s a bit closer to completion but till then I will just keep it in here

Yeah throw the 20s on my Monaro witch the paint work is looking absolutely stunning on

will post pics later of that

and get staggered 18s for manta and some semi slicks, not doin the whole drag radial thing on it yet

Maybe one day I may change rear suspension, rear brakes and use some redials but for now it’s a street car and Im Not goin to comprise the current set up for some 1/4 mile times

Yeah myn isnt to bad while cruising as well, I definetly know what you mean just enjoying it, I’m doin the same, I got real  enthusiastic yesterday and lifted my PCM off the floor stuck it in the glove box, took me a whole of 30 seconds and I thought yep that is that job done lol

we tryed my varex closed yesterday and looked on logs while cruising and it seamed to all be ok and didn’t affect anything AFR or temp wise but it’s strictly a cruising thing only while seeing the boys in blue

my make it’s quite as, just a heap of engine noise from front of car

It’s goin to make huge power when we finish with it, we are goin out a few more times just creeping it up a little each time

first thing we had to do was play with AFR while crushing

we now have it on 9.1 lambda while cruising and that keeps it cool, previously we had it on nearly exactly 1 lambda but temps kept creeping up

at idle we found it was struggling to bring it down so we added some fuel and could see temps coming down but was on the limits of needing more throttle to keep 1000rpm idle but got it right on a point where it does bring temps down after good hard drive but still idles with out stalling so might need to drill out my 2 holes in throttle blades a tad more so it idles but doesn’t read throttle %

top end its still rich and has bugger all timing, we went up a 2 degrees to see 13 and when I went full throttle in 3rd as that’s the only gear I can get it flat we noticed couple pops up top so backed it down but that makes it worse so we got it up to 15 degrees top end and it’s getting better but it’s making power that it can not keep traction in 3rd at 140km/h but it’s screaming for more timing so it’s not still burning coming out the exhaust valves but to do this I will need a brand new set of rear tyres for it, it’s nearly fried these ones and they have done about 1000km/h

theres a good chance right now it making near on  500rwkw it’s just insane

So many times today I was driving and applying power trying to keep traction and at 60-65% in second it just frys up and if I dont back off it  bounces of the limiter at 70-80km/h and in 3rd if I went to aggressive on the throttle in 3rd it would do similar and that’s with 3 big people in the car

taking  it out to test and tune hopefully it’s on next weekend to see what mph it does if I can get traction

So me and leppy took out the manta for a bit more playing with the tune today

the car absolutely rocks and didn’t miss a beat

had my self 87kg leppy must be 120kg and a mate in the back that is 112kg so 319kg of people and it’s still just mental

drops power skids anywhere you want

This pic is of a log where I took off and gave it a stab in 1st then changed into 2nd and held it

can see in 2nd it took 35.7% throttle to hold it 6425rpm at 103km/h and car at this point would of been doin maybe 70km/h and can see as car speeds up I gradually increase throttle to around 60% by end of skid

we added a bit more fuel while its cruising to help keep temps down and timing up top end now is at 15degrees and has noticeable more power then before

3rd gear you have to be careful with if I easy it on nice and smoothly and by about 5000rpm I can get full throttle but it’s fighting on the limit to break loose

if I just cruise at say 60km/h in 3rd and just put my foot down it will break out and be bouncing of the limiter

did 83km round trip and chewed up 30-35 litres of e85  :good:   :yahoo:

So took the manta for a drive the other night, its goin like a balistic missil and leaves 2 black marks if i even look at the throttle 1st and 2nd and 3rd isnt much better for traction

Got a gto kit for the monaro along with a gto rear wing witch is jard to find, got difillipno 1 7/8 extractors and goin to make a exhaust using a set of mufflers i had on the manta and the rear difillipno muffer i have, got pedders adjustable coil overs second hand for cheap, camber kit, got a otr brand new for under half price

And also have the cherry black paint at home and will all be goin on as soon as i have fitted the kit witch may happen next weekend  :yahoo:

That’s excellent, I was the same Gary, my check book was just not even close to been big enough to pay people to do the work on the manta and even when they did I wasn’t that impressed with some of it

I seam to have this thing and I’m sure others have it to where if I’m interested in a subject I will learn it, sometimes I dont even know how I learnt it but I just do, I dont think anyone has ever tought me anything on autosparky stuff yet I seam to have a fearly decent knowledge on it, I wired every thing from my first stereo, my first relay, my first ignition system, first fuel system then all the hundreds of wires in the manta and no one has ever showed me anything on auto sparky stuff yet it’s all done and works a treat

so if you have a genuine interest and the most important part is the  enthusiasm to get out there and do it then anything is possible, might not be a elite Summernats winner job but for $$$ to $$$ value I’m on your side for doin it your self  for $30k less

Only problem with my true trac is it leaves 2 black marks every where I go

your link above is a torque lock centre I believe, I’m 99% sure it’s virtually the same designed as a Eaton true trac but about $100-$200 cheaper, it’s just a more affordable variation of the eaton

Yep totally agree he has by far the best of the best of the best, after all my hassles with fuel pumps and serge tanks I am so glad I ended up with one of his tanks

when I first got the fuelab prodigy pump when I had been having troubles with the 044 pumps someone tagged him to one of my FB post and that was the first time I spoke to him, I showed him my 044 pumps and  immediately he picked they where fake, he asked if I wanted one of his products and I had a look and said I would love to but I have just purchased a $550+ fuelab pump and matching reg to control its flow and what I needed to make it work,

he even told me not to use fuelab but I already had it and said I have to give it a go and he was even enterested in how this fuelab stuff would work for me worked

after that fuelab pump gave me the shits to no end and was the worst top end product I have ever brought I called him and said give me one of your tanks I’m thowing this fuelab heap of shit in the bin

and then my fuel system lived happily ever after

Myn is the sp1200 with welds and man they are the best tig welds Iv seen in person on anything ever

his tig welder must of got to buisy with the fuel tanks they are now making so designed these with no welds to easy the work load of him, was a 3 month wait for myn and worth every second of it

yours is the newer model then myn so can only be better
