Posts: 5 777Lol, thats funny IJ, I have done exactly the same thing. Or another one I have been guilt off is buying a replacement tool as I have “lost” the old one. When it arrives I think, where shall put it? Sure enough when I pick a nice safe spot, what is there already, yep the same bloody tool that I couldn’t find. Dohh

Posts: 5 777Another fun day today. Thought it was about time got I my sanding vibe going. So spent the day getting all around the windscreen nice inside and out. Just sort of did it one straight section at a time. Used the welder to plug anything I hadn’t filled completely. Then progressively sanded all the welds smooth. Super happy with how it’s all tuning out, really starting to feel like I am making progress. Then decided to have a crack at straightening the bent radio area. Just took my time, and applied a bit of heat. Its actually come up pretty well. Plenty good enough anyway, I don’t want to destroy all its character. The last thing is I turned it around on the hoist, time to finish off the cargo area, back of B Pillars etc. Happy days.

Posts: 5 777This thing is really coming along nice. The Binky boys add weight with brackets, you take it away with speed holes

Posts: 5 777I assume Cav was just taking the piss! Easy to get to and troubleshoot in between races is the go on a motorsport car. Even with the kart you start off pretty but pretty soon it evolves into something easy to access, remove and refit when it gets busy in the pits.

Posts: 5 777Floors are in. Took my time to set the gaps etc as good as I could before welding. I think I have said it before but I think that’s the secret to good welds. Even gap, and both sides level. Also had to remake the area around the bottom of the A-pillar, that wasn’t even close. Actually quite a zenny job, just bopping away to some tunes out in the shed and slowly chipping away at it. Few bits and bobs to finish off and that’s pretty much the front end done. Then I think onto the cargo area, back of B pillars etc. Happy days!

Posts: 5 777Back onto it today. Would like to get the wheel housing and drivers floor done this weekend, see how I go. Got the repair done on the wheel housing. Used the donor part Cooper kindly gave me. Was actually in pretty good condition, just had some rust on the bottom so made up a repair, turned out pretty neat. Then tacked it in place with tek screws then carefully sliced it to get a nice join line 1mm wide. Slow and steady wins the race, got it all welded up. Pretty happy with it. Tomorrow will have a crack at the floor.

Posts: 5 777Just had a chance to take it out for a decent drive at lunchtime (some benefits in Iso). Prob first good drive since it tried to kill me. Did a plug change first as I hadn’t done that since the dyno runs etc. Started great, let it warm up and just beautiful. Man, I never tire of driving this thing. Really strong lumpy idle, actually relatively docile at cruise speed, but holy crap, just even squeeze the loud pedal and its just invades all the senses. Did the obligatory small burn out (on a private road), basically just off idle, would have easily just blown the tires off if I wanted without going anywhere near the limiter. Happy days, love it.

Posts: 5 777Just take a good look at the passenger side where the spare sits. I didn’t and it’s a touch closer to the tyre that the drivers side. Slight love tap with a mallet fixes it though.
