Posts: 5 777I just had probably the scariest moment in a car I can remember. I have driven the Senator into work and was taking a couple of guys over from France around the block. Pulled into a wide street and hit the gas a bit and the throttle linkage has gone over centre and jammed wide open. Was pulling well over 7k going mental. By the time I had sensed what the f was going on and got to the key, I have looped it and put it up on the side of the kerb. So so lucky. Pretty much damage free except gutter rash on one of the front rims. Holy shit that was scary. I have never actually had that happen in a car before. definitely going to have to look at some sort of physical stop on the linkage, but also some sort of kill switch within easy reach.?

Posts: 5 777I reckon if they are the only two issues you get your have done bloody well. When you add up how many little details jobs you have done, getting one or two wrong is just part of the game. and to be expected.

Posts: 5 777So last week a set of the correct hubcaps went for $1,200. So yea nah, I mean first time I left it at Bunnings someone would nick them. So bought a very nice set of full stainless dress rings, I think they set if off nicely. Been driving it a bit this week end working on the shed, so cool to drive love it.

Posts: 5 777Thanks, IJ, I assume it just basically goes in the line, does it matter if its in the feed or return? Maybe because of the pressure it needs to be the return?

Posts: 5 777What? You mean there is no off the shelf solution for an E36 with 600+HP mid-mounted LS, that’s being built for dirt and tarmac events. Go figure

Posts: 5 777Just curious IJ, is it a specific kind of steel, and what sort of heat treatment process is it?
If I remember engineering correctly the torsional stiffness of a bar is proportional to the 4th power of its diameter. So twice the diameter is 16 times stiffer. That’s why very small increments in diameter change like 1 or 2mm make a big difference in stiffness. And of course, as you have done thats then effected by the lever arm of its length connected to the hub.

Posts: 5 777No cooler at the moment IJ, I have one, just never fitted it. It was down a little on fluid, topped it up, and was perfect on the way home. So that maybe shows its OK but marginal so def fitting the cooler is on the list. Still not sure about this slight weirdness in the rear, might take it to Gawler Mechanical so they can put it on their 4 post hoist so the suspension is loaded up and take a look around. On my 2 post, it hangs down so you don’t really get to see what’s happening. I also lift on the cradle mount so I can’t see in there when its up. I don’t think it’s a biggy, just getting it sorted for road duties.

Posts: 5 777Little Johnny waves his hand in the air and asks Miss White: – “Is it true that you can get pregnant when you only 7 years old?” Miss White answers him: – “No Little Johnny, you can not have kids at seven years old. That is far to young to be even thinking of such things.” Little Johnny turns toward Little Mary and says: – “See! I told you you were worrying over nothing” Miss White Fainted
Yea I admit it, I chuckled
