Posts: 5 777How did you end up with the fuel system Pete, is it sorted? Are you planning another trip to the dyno to see what it can make?

Engine would probably run like crap, but be good if you were having a bbq by the side of the road

Posts: 5 777Maybe 3D laser scan a standard one, then 3D model the changes that you want and have one machined out of billet Would look bloody insane, but cost a mint for the first one…

Posts: 5 777Enjoy your car until you get bored then start tinkering again. But at least the info is here for when you revisited the idea in the future.
I think is on the money, time to just drive it and enjoy it until the novelty wears off… But as you say now I have the info when the time comes, thanks all.

Posts: 5 777I cant wait, bit of a long list of people I want to take for a thank you squirt. Winton is a goer, just a matter of time. I have become a bit OCD about getting it legal, can not wait for that day though.. Truly means a lot all the kind words etc, bloody nice to know you have other people following and enjoying the build

Posts: 5 777Nah literally its hard against the block. I drilled out the holes in the mounting bracket to allow me to get it as hard as i could to the side. Actually today while I was playing around I had a bit of a look, actually the power steering isn’t that ugly. I think I will put it on the back burner until I do a bit of a power upgrade later in the year, that may or may not include a vacuum pump which will need a rethink of the belts anyhow.

Posts: 5 777Well with the help of a couple of tips from members on here I gave the seat belts a good clean, got the compressor and blew all the dust and crap out of them, they still don’t retract lightning fast but I don’t ever remember them all the time I have had the car.
Took it for a quick cruise around the block, running sweet as, obviously not quite so aggressive to drive now its quietened down and tuned for emissions, man I cant wait to be able to give it the berries again, it just wants to go.
Have to say I am really pretty much done now, I think its time as soon as the engineering report is done to head down to Regency and have a crack at getting it registered. Worse case maybe I will end up with a few things to sort, but really I think its there, its about as good as I can get it, I mean I could go on doing the little 1 percenters forever, I think its time to have a go.

Posts: 5 777Love the look of a Stato dash. One thing I wouldn’t mind doing one day. They look so much better than the Commodore one.
Def agree they look way classier.

Posts: 5 777Great car. These are the cars that make me smile when I hear people car stuff like “no commodore will ever be considered a classic” Having grown up with these, who would have though a humble old 4 door HQ would be soooo cool. +1 for leaving an Aussie V8 in it
