Posts: 5 777Mate good to hear, at least you got to it. All part of the joy of owning an old car :). Nice work.

Posts: 5 777Lol, remote shed, I like that, think of Cp as that chat you have to the guy alongside you at the Repco counter waiting to pick up a new oil filter

Posts: 5 777To me it’s just a matter of a little discipline. Sure we all want to keep everything but you can’t. Better to pass stuff on to someone else who needs it, then if you ever do need a part like that again you will find it. Seen too many “barn finds” that Actually have completely passed it, simply coz the guy didn’t want to let it go 10 years earlier when it was actually saveable. Another one to me is don’t start a resto/build until you can finish it. Again too many 90% projects end up on eBay coz people run out of time or money. Anyhow apologies for the thread diversion :).

Posts: 5 777You might have to sacrifice the door trim, you will need to tear/break it away to get to the lock mechanism. But maybe that’s the simplest/cheapest/easiest part to replace? If you can get that off around the lock you can get to it so much easier, let me see if I can dig up a pic.

Posts: 5 777Leave the back door alone, really think you have to somehow spring it open (the gap), wont need much, 1mm would do it (and a good shove)

Posts: 5 777Jealous, my inlaws have 10 acres and I have a 40′ container on it, that’s got the Nash and Kombi, but they are toying with the idea of moving, if they do not sure what I will do. My shed is really nice for building a car at time, but not as storage also. My side of the family are into old ar resto, so they are no help, they are tragic hoarders

Posts: 5 777Shit mate, you are in a spot of bother. First thing I would be trying is spraying tons of lube spray around the area to at least see if it can help it slide a little. Then its got to be the biggest screw driver you can get in there and try to gently but firmly spread it a little while someone on the outside holds the door handle open, and someone else on the inside tries to push the door open maybe even with their feet against the trim?

Posts: 5 777I actually built mine with Collingrove (and Mallala) in mind, love to get my son to drive it with me in the passenger seat one day. The glide I am fitting now wont suit that though, so might have to wait until I go a manual, and maybe a removable cage. I live on the edge of the Barossa Valley not that far from Collingrove. If your looking for somewhere to stay when you come over let me know

Posts: 5 777Agreed its not a biggie, but its not good either, at least it doesn’t look too hard to correct (if they haven’t already)

Posts: 5 777LOL you may just get your Ride, Collingrove is on my list of events to attend.
Sat at the base of Collingrove as a 7 or 8 year old watching Stan Keen in an Elfin F5000 set the record there, 30.4 if my memory serves me correct, then my two brothers and sister and I got Stan to sign each of our hats. Great days, my dad was a great hill climb fan Small world!!

Posts: 5 777Cool, I have a little baby lathe, but always wanted a mill. For what i need probably a smaller drill mill, tbh probably not skilled enough to drive a bridgeport. Love your work mate, very cool what you are able to do it all yourself, and at such a good level, once you have scared the crap out of Kal shotgun second ride

Posts: 5 777Thanks, they look like a very nice bit of kit. 94dB you luck bugger, I have to hold 90 for rego. In the end I went to a stock 2 into 1, 2.5″ system with dyna cones, but once its through I really would like to go and revisit my original twin 3″ idea with rear Varex, these might just be what I was looking for. Cheers for that.

Posts: 5 777I reckon Kal might blur that line anyways
Hey mate have you got any more info on those spiral mufflers your using, what are they, how do they work. Any idea what sort of dB attenuation you expect from them and how much power they rob?

Posts: 5 777Well from an engineering point of view I hope this wall thickness is something they address. Hopefully that’s just a prototype issue.
