Got mine from Holmart from memory, be careful, you want the flat ones, there is a grey type that are similar but domed, the VT-VZ ones aren’t what you want.

Just fyi a T350 and a T400 are two completely different boxes. T350 is pretty old and is a 3 speed mechanically controlled auto. A T400 is a very tried and true heavy duty 3 speed mechanically controlled auto, very popular with biggish HP cars, its just physically bigger that a T350 so it handles more power/torque.

A T700 is a 4 speed (3 + overdrive) with gear changes controlled mechanically. They then went to electronic controlled gear changes, and the T700 became the 4L60e, 4 being 4 speed, 60 refers to the torque rating of the gearbox, and e stands for electronic. They then uprated it slightly to make it a little more durable and it became the 4L65e. Most parts of a 4l60e/4L65e are interchangeable, externally similar. These days the T700/4L60e/4L65e can be built to handle 500 fwhp comfortably, get up toward 600+ and its starts to become debatable.

A 4L80e is a different box again, and more or less a T400 with an overdrive added. They can be be built to handle pretty good power. Then the latest commies have a totally different box the 6L80e, 6, 6 speed, 80 torque rating, e for electronic control.

Pretty sure all that’s right, if I have stuffed anything let me know and i will update it.

Btw, that combo of Cavas is pretty stout, would be a great buy.

^I sort of agree, it’s the loss of power that is key. Something has changed/failed/moved, tunes don’t. Surely a 383 anything should turn the tyres in almost any gear wouldn’t it? IMHO, situations like this you go back and check the basics first, then go from there. Hope you get it sorted buddy.

Things like plugs, dizzy cap,etc won’t make it feel down on power, it will miss etc if you know what I mean. What worries me is that you think it’s dropped in power, which infers something’s changed, which I assume the tune hasn’t. I would be doing a compression check and just make sure physically it’s all fine first. I assume it’s not running hot, blowing and smoke etc.

I agree with Cava, either way you have work, either swapping the pedal assembly, or swapping the tb to cable. I would go cable.

Will take too long to go through all the differences but in nutshell they are all different boxes.

Really comes down to what you want out of the car, is an overdrive something you would like for example?

All the boxes you have listed can be built to comfortably handle 500 fwhp.

Its always easiest to just build whats already in there.

Cant beat the feel of an old school screw driver. I still use hand tools whenever I am playing around with anything that matters. Too easy to overpower stuff with a cordless. I made up a tool for removing the screw for the air horns, but still crack them or start them by hand first.

So there are two things, the stall speed, and how “tight” it is? Didn’t really know that. How is that controlled, is that how the guy builds the converter, can it be changed?
