Looks great, and even better with an Ls. Reminds me of the one my neighbours at the shack use to have although theirs was just a 6

That just looks like a truckload of fiddly work, bet your glad its done!

Was so glad it was done when I finished, almost finished and went to test everything and had a few problems which just turned out to be a fuse thankfully

Nice work. I should of cleaned the heater a bit too while i was in that situation but ohwell. She will be right. Ha ha. Looking great anyway vs acclaim.

Thanks, yeah was a bit dirty in there plus I found the screw I dropped down the demister vents last time I had the dash out haha

Replaced the heater core over the weekend, defiantly needed replacing. Ended up cleaning out the heater box a bit and replaced the foam tape around some of the seals. Also cleaned everything I removed before putting it back into the car.

Dash out, this didnt take me long as ive done it a couple of times before

    Heater box out

Old vs new heater core, can see a corner missing which pretty much crumbled as soon as I touched it

And heater box back in, ended up finishing the car off, just need to clean wipe over everything and its finished for now. While I had everything apart I also replaced a few of the dash pieces for better ones.

Nice well i ended up pulling my air con out. Its never that hot down here in tassy normally its wind all the windows down. Ha ha. But in winter the windows fog up. But for how oftern i run my car id rather not have it and things look neater in the bay without the big aircon bracket. I do have the full setup thought so maybe one day i might throw it back in. . Any plans for a cam kit or exhaust?? Keep up the good work.

Yeah I want to get the A/C regassed and working before summer, missed it last year when it didnt work.  :negative: Yeah windows fogging up was annoying but it didnt bother me too much as its not my daily. Its got a small cam in it now, just a 268, and exhaust is some extractors into a twin 2&1/2 into a single 3inch system on it, would love to put a supercharger on it one day but im happy with it for now

I put a new heater core in my ss around a year ago because of leaky coolant on the floor just cut the old brass lines with a hacksaw then slid the old one out and put some hoses on with some hose clamps worked fine. I was told the air con needs to be depressurised for a proper install??? but looking great has come a long way.

Thanks, yeah the A/C has to be degassed to do it the proper way but, I still havent put gas in it because it was winter

Over the last couple of weeks I have put some HDT headlight covers on, had a leather steering wheel re-trimmed and the handbrake grip and gear knob re-trimmed. Have bought a new heater core as the old one is now leaking and cant use my heaters without a strong smell of coolant. Have taken pretty much everything off or out of the car so the dash can be taken out next weekend.

Calais is still going fine being a reliable cleanish daily. Put my old exhaust from the acclaim on this because the factory system was rusty and falling apart, basically just a 2 and 1/4 cat back with high flow muffler and a hot dog in the rear, just gives it note and isnt loud. Cleaned up the factory wheels this afternoon which turned out not too bad, the clear coat on them is stuffed but im not sure what to do about that yet.

Spokes before, whole side of the car was covered in grass from council workers mowing while it was parked outside of work..

    Spokes after

Whole wheel done, no where near perfect but a lot better then they were before.

Does anyone know if the GTS consoles had the “leather” on them or not?

Took a pic today where I thought it looked decent, also had the exhaust fixed from where it was touching the body. Have decided ill probably get the gear knob and hand brake grip re-trimmed when I get a leather steering wheel done.

Why was the power run done in 2nd?

I honestly have no idea, I didn’t really care what power it made just wanted it tuned so I can drive it. Should it have been done in a different gear being auto?

Exhaust is now done and it got tuned yesterday, pretty happy to just be driving it again. Also put a leather handbrake grip and shift knob on but will probably get those re-trimmed soon along with a centre console to match the Senator/GTS style.

So I sent a message and they do them and aren’t actually that far from my work. Apparently they need my oorginal hand brake handle. Having never removed one is it simple? Thought if it is I might go to UPI and get one off a wreck and then just swap it over?

The one in my calais just slips off, I tried to get one off at upi but wouldnt budge, maybe needs some heat to help it?

Was fine for running in and seems to be ok driving it around on the standard tune once the timing was set right. Still want to get it tuned properly though.

I tried getting another one but they aren’t available anywhere and are obsolete from Holden. Whats involved in removing it, do I just replace the hose from the firewall to the fuel rail with a new piece of hose? Also what do I do about the quick release connector? Should I just put new hose on the firewall line and clamp it?

Lip looks good ever considered color coding the centre garnish? Always noticed it seems to look better with the lip for some reason

I have considered it, might paint one up when I get a chance, if I dont like it I can always swap it back. I am a fan of the current strip because it ties the tail lights together

Love those boot lips, looks great. Hard to keep them clean in this weather, but cars are for driving not hiding

I agree, driving them is one of my favourite things to do
