    Wow time has flown!

Bit of an update is due

Car is now Supercharged with an STA blower making a respectable 262rwkw. It made 161rwkw before the blower (Cam didnt like the standard intake, run out of puff at 5000rpm).. a week later the diff with 4.11’s decided it had enough to we are now running a later model M80 standard ratio diff.

After taking it for its first drag run there was a couple hiccups, I had been fighting an electrical issue for weeks so I was limping it through the day with that, my 2nd run when i loaded the car up properly for the first time it blew the BOV off and hit the bonnet.. probably lucky it stayed in the bonnet. And due to my fault it blew a pinhole in the oil line on the blower return.. so the day was cut short.. putting it back onto the trailer i cracked a side skirt to.. it was a great day.

Fast forward 3 months and the car was stripped of its body kit, front bar, grill, bonnet, front quarters, skirts, rear bar and boot. Shipped off to melbourne to be painted where its just being finished up now. Which i will update with fresh pics once I get it home but from what ive seen it looks mickey mouse now.

Then it just needs a new starter fitted, new under chassis lines as somehow along the line the rear brake lines have been crushed and fuel line damaged from a hoist or jack but not sure how or when that happened.

Also I will add for anyone with a keen eye the BOV is mounted to the intake by a 90 bit of tube, I want to remove that and get the BOV welded to the intake so it cant come off again. But the supercharger has to come off to get that piece of tube off.. which isn’t fun

I’m just using a normal one at the moment, I would like to get a HSV one done when people start making them.

So a fair bit has happened with the car since i put this thread up. It is now sporting a new engine. A freshly built 304, hydraulic crane cam, YT rockers, high energy sump, ported heads. Old car it came out of it ran 320hp on carby so it will be interesting to see how it goes in mine. It is in the car 98% done just have to address a leaking waterpump and finish the gauges then its off for a tune. Plus its had a new thrust bearing in the box as it was noisy, i snapped an axle in the diff a while back so the diff had to get opened up to get it out, so its safe to say we know the car inside out now. You can see the old engine with the green rockers, 20 years of gunky oil goodness, yummo. While the engine was out it was all pressure washed, degreased and polished, so its like a new bay now, once i have it back and running i will start to relocate and hide some stuff. Replaced stuff like vacuum hoses, clutch cable, plugs, etc. The highlight was finding the coil was using speaker wiring! So we are now running an MSD Coil + leads.

good advice bloke, theres a bit to it,especially if car see corners or gets turned inside out. good for a bit of a chin wag got a laugh out of reactions too,i gotta sit back for a while after i type stuff,,haha also later stuff with them cradles that drop in look good. anyone measured one of them walbro’s,diameter,VS got a 60mm hole in tank,i’m trying to keep a fairly stock look, for the man really, haha

If noone has one measured i can do it for you when mine shows up (just delayed atm because AI cant post due to the weather in NSW). Im sure they will fit – they need a couple mods to fit but they do work in there no worries

Yeah i agree with about 1000hp Yanks have a weird way of rating pumps for hp Almost like they free flow them and go will at no pressure it flows X amount of litres and that will support 1500hp so we will say that But really only see that power at 20-30psi boost and that gives a 65-80 psi fuel pressure so has a effect on fuel pressure I had paid for that serge you have but then i changed my mind and asked and changed order to a sp1200 Love my aftermarket industries serge tank Stunning the build and design quality

Thats the base of what julian was telling me, no way can that pump supply a 1500hp motor in the real world.

+1 for there quality its incredible, billet surge tank mmmmmmm

Why did you change to the Sp1200? did you want the tank in your boot and not undercar?

    Exactly.

Its been quite a humbling experience actually getting  a grasp around what a proper fuel system to suit your needs is required…. its been alot more involved than the supercharger itself and everyone has there own opinions on how to do it, atleast i know I wont be blowing a motor from a lack of fuel after all of this. To the OP best advice i can give you is get intouch with someone in the know and let them design something for you and go from there, i had people telling me a single walbro 460  no surge would be fine for my application and i got laughed at when i passed that on. Talk to the guys in the know buddy :)

Chill out buddy, just saying, not having a go or anything. They are a great pump, gerotor style so nice and quiet, good quality. There are a few good fuel guys in Oz, each has their own preferences, all good

I wasnt getting my nickers in a twist, its hard to translate that over a forum, quite often bites us in the arse hey.

No it wont, thats what julian explained the other day, what the holleys advertise and what they actually can do in terms of big numbers like that are completely different, I wouldnt even trust that pump with 1000hp on an EFI blown setup. Carby is different, but when we spoke on the other day on the phone he was explaining fuel consumption, psi, fuel line sizes etc These pumps are rated to flow 200gph but its more like half of that for my kind of setup. He has all the data to back up his claims so i will back him 100%

I had mine mounted on the passenger side of the trans tunnel in my old VK. Very easy to access. Thankfully I never needed to.

this is what I have on my vc.. Never needed to use it and hope to never use it! But its easy to reach.

Likewise on my VY, its not in the way and easy to get to, i quite like it there

Not alot of progress so far just accumlating everything required

    Fuel system will is:

Walbro 460 intank, earls 175gph -8 filter, Aftermarket industries 1.7l Surge tank & Holley 1800 pump unit, 85lb Siemens injectors, upgraded rails,  holley fuel reg.

Had to get a custom bit of aluminum machined up to fit the pulley to the new harmonic balancer otherwise it was going to wreck it, and eventually the motor so got that made up yesterday, mint bit of machining. Running the holley pump with a NOS Window switch to trigger the 2nd part of the pump at a certain RPM/Psi yet to be decided.

Stay tuned its all happening. PS in photo below she is running window tint now  for hecticness

Sounds like I might have to give it a go, what are the advantages and disadvantages of running a twin plate to a single? better pedal feel?
