Okay so I read up on the IM240 test and that seems straight forward to get certified.

The next step would be if an engineer can certify the transplant because this seems to be a grey area even with some professionals saying yes and others no? I understand it may vary state to state, whats my chances in VIC to successfully get a 5lt vt 304 engineered and emissions certified registered on the road?

The brakes/trans/suspension are all the same in a Monaro compared to a vt s1 SS, its practically a front cut.

I would think an engineer could almost certify this sight unseen when considering how straight forward components would switch over with no need for welding/cuting or fixing new bolts any ware appearing as factory fitted(please correct if im wrong)

Im going to track down the stats on an Ls1,Holden 304 and find some case study of the straight lpg emission stats to figure out how close or within the emissions would be to meet euro 2/3 2002/2003

(CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), total hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Please feel free to post your thoughts on this.

I guess what my angle is  to follow up on an old project whilst under going a conversion with a difference. As per this project I still am undergoing. “super cool bannanas”

    Thanks for the info guys.

From the research I have done its stated in the Vic Roads guidelines

The section “6.1 VSB 14 Modifications code LA” essentially states that any modifications stated within dont require certification. Nothing about things that do.

From what I have read the major problem is emissions due to the block meeting older emission targets.

It is known that you can use a straight gas conversion to lower the emissions.

Personally that doesn’t bother me as almost half the cars I have owned have been straight gas cars.

I guess in theory this works but how do i get the emission part verified or go through that process that the engine does pass emissions.

It would be worth it if the certifying just one element “exhaust emissions”.

Any one here a VASS engineer or work in this industry?

So, long time no updates right. There is a good reason for that…   I sold the VK.

I’ll start where it all began.

I was faced with a situation where I had to move on with the VK. My wife said to me that she would never let our son ride in it nor she because it wasn’t safe enough. Its a highly valid point with the modern safety features of cars today.

At first I was depressed having pored so much personal time into this car and knowing it was highly likely that it was the last car I would build up by my self. I had to look at the bright side, it was going to free up time for other things. So I waited for the right buyer that was going to take it to another level, a level that I could never afford. As far as I know its been mini tubed by the current owner at the moment with a drive line rebuild keeping the original trans and block.

After selling ALL the spare parts I had accrued over many years, the amount saved away had summed up nicely.

So I decided to get 2 vehicles to replace it. First a daily driver that safe and cheap to run, the second a fun road registered track car with the only time spent upgrading the drivetrain and refining rather then spending time repairing and restoring.

Wow over 3000 klm for $1200 not bad HDN05L,

Literally was just inquired with prix transport. Its tough sifting through the sub contracting businesses. Just prefer to go direct with transporters who actually run and deliver.

    Cheers mate.

Found a good one that runs more personal and accessible MR/HR transportation

    DRM logistics.

$1350 door to door delivery. (Toowoomba QLD to pakenham Vic)

Try flipping the struts to get clearance. Or just give sheet metal a little flex to cleare it. Can do it by hand. Worked on mine.

Just went through a year of single income (wife on meternity leave) so no time or money to play with but now im on the other side were the grass is greener and i have time and money… had to sell a few parts to get through but still have the k and still have the bannanas just. :yahoo:

Wife : “Why do you keep paying rego when you dont even drive the VK”

    Me: ” ”

Wife: “you need to unregister the VK… hey where are you going? Are you going to the garage wtf”

Well i figured it was worth a shot. And hey they actualy fit… just. The chrome is nice but id rather the machined look.

Finaly got a set of sawblades 17 x 8.5. Always wanted them wayback when there was no hdt 19s. These are cast alloy with chrome finish. I plan to get them striped and the face machined then paint the inner blades black to give them that 80s style. For now though ill run them as is…  who wants to see me attempt to fit the rears with the 285 tread still on… wont happen but  a good laugh. Great thing is if i ever decide to go wider with a mini tub on the rear the sawblades came out in 8.5-9.5 and even 11 wide. I have a set of 235s i should be able to stretch over them for now and hopefully get the right bolt on offset.

I have updated the post with some simple previs renders. Gives you the idea im going for with twin intercooling located below the ornamental covers and the charger being mounted upside down, the lower plenum removed for extra clearance. Dont stress I have done some measurements and yes the eaton m112 charger will be a tight squeeze between the runners, but incorporating the intercoolers in this area will give me opportunity to offset the runners a tad bit towards the heads. Fuel rails will be tricky but we’ll see.

In terms of twin water cooled design i really like the jaguar aj26 v8 setup with twin intercooling.

The actual CAD generated data with Autodesk Fusion but the visualizations will be with Blender 3d.

Yes it was Avacado green. Sadly i sold the interior when i had no storage options.
It was the light tan/beige interior.

Okay so i should probably start a new thread or rename this one.

Ill just tell you what I’m wanting to achieve and its something unique?possibly, pointless? mostlikely. It would provide a challenge of prototyping unique parts through CAD drafting and 3d printing/ later casting or welding up components from aluminium.

I have my Factory 5lt bunch of bananas manifold. I want to cut it up add flanges and extend the runners allowing an SC to sit snug inside with water to air ic.

Normal rotation sc – Remove the Valley intake and front tb. mount sc upside down running into ic the down port runners. The tb intake would instead come from the back via elbows plumbing either side borrowed from some m90’s

If reverse flowing. Valley mount the sc Utilise the factory tb position with an additional drivers side tb, the rear of the sc now the outlet runs back across the top throught the ic’s down the new runners tp the cylinder heads.

In both cases i want to retain the bananas casting or at least the fuel injector rail ornamental covers that would be chopped up to be use as part the ic’s that run on each bank.

Crazy yeah but certainly will keep me busy all year round.

I understand a picture would help with explaining but im just researching at this stage and will start to creat some CAD design to flesh it out later.

That is a very nice bit of gear.

A few reasons behind reversing the flow is to have both the intake and blower drive at the front and from the back outlet run across the top to an ic for both bank of runners.

Im also really entertaining the idea of reverse flow also because budget.
There are plenty of cheap m112’s out there. There is one very nice M112 (that wouldnt need to be reversed) developed for the xf jag that has the drive and intake at the front but they are hard to come by in aus and our dollar is rubbish to import at the moment.

Its one of things that in the new year of 2016 im hopping there maybe some bargains out there and a stronger aus dollar.

Lastly i dont want to invest too much into something that i will ultimately chop and change ruining its value as it would be beyond repair.

This is the sort of stuff i’m finding on the net that suggest the Eaton and likely other twin screw models could flow in reverse???. Although i would be looking into a completely different design in manifold like the modern up side down setups.

    What you guys reckon?

Just wanted to play around with the concept for a supercharger manifold design incorporating twin or single water IC. An upside down setups is what i originally wanted to do but then i got thinking… and researching… and i guess dreaming of crazy setup that would require a reverse flow sc but im not all that convinced either.

Ill start a thread on hear when I start with the Manifold. Its going to be my new project that my wife wont complain about as I’m not building cars up in the garage. Just a hack manifold design to build up without taking up to much space in garage.

Cheers guys, well i took the advise and drove it on a 100k return trip to the ferny creek car show with no problems along the way. Me and a chev powered vh were there amongst some real nice classics

Looking forward to now going to the Garfield car show this sunday coming
