front screen is out, rust remover is on and the pillars

and bottom screen panel wrapped in plastic to allow rust remover to work :good:

Then paint + curing + screen sealing + install.. will be a while before its on the track

.. drive in drive out and you want the gearing changed?

possible with a c/over diff but a bit unrealistic with a ratio change

I have just had a new diff (with a different ration gear set) built for the race car at AutoCure at Keysborough but it was there 4 days ( I was in no hurry)  but you can try DiffKing in Dandenong or Keysborough Diffs (who are also in dandenong)  Stay away from GJ diffs…. their rep is in the toilet as far as feedback I have of late

Yeah mate theres a few vids on youtube :Dyno Run , Drags Engine is now back at Norwest Engine Centre for a bit more work. More compression (11:1) and a bigger cam hopefully should see quicker times at the drags.

cam and comp is not the answer to quicker times (or more hp on a 202)

been there.. tried that.  Headwork is where you get the most gains. I built a number of 202s like yours and all ended up around 190-200 rwhp (in a LJ Torrie with 3.55 gears and a M21 ran high 12s)

I tried a number of head combos… wild 9 port, very modded 12 port, modded YT and with some ‘creative’ work on an alloy YT ended up with 220rwhp and a 12.2 sec timeslip

Well this is one of those ones that everyone has an opinion. The guys that make my drive shafts, G Force in the states, purposely make their drive shafts two slightly different diameters left/right. Their theory (seems to work) is that this breaks up the resonance occurring between them and stops the tramp. ……………..

the factory and HSV do this now… different diameter drive shafts

True recent story, had a guy I know in Gawler ring me to take a look at his car problem “coz you know about cars Gary” Some boring piece of fwd jap crap Camry. So he has done an oil change, but for some reason the car wont now move out of his driveway and it doesn’t sound right when he starts it. I go over, why would changing the oil mess up the transmission? So I check the oil, that’s weird, its reading really high on the dipstick? Start looking around, get under the car, get him to tell me what he did. Yep, thats it, he has actually drained the auto trans, then put the new 4l of oil in the engine. So he has 8l of oil in the engine and zero in the trans, and the guy is a maintenance planner…

I can vouch for that sorta error.. as it reminds me of what my cousin did when he got his new second hand V8 XT fairmont.

Drained the engine, new filter… all good !  Then put 5 litres in but the engine disptick showed nothing  so he went and bought another 5 litres of engine oil and started pouring it in. But after another litre and a bit the oil spat back… out of the auto trans disptick tube!  ooops

at least he had not started up the engine…… :good: which of course had no oil

^all we were able to do in the old days was guess, well based on what we thought at the time was state of the art knowledge. Its really not that long ago that if “big was good” then “bigger must be better” was often the prevailing thought.

    .. ABSOLUTELY

thought Smitty as he was quietly running a 1/8″ drill bit thru the main jet on the downdraft Strommy on his ‘soon to be’ hot red motor.

    Well I was only 17 at the time…..  B-)

the 179 really did not run well after that…     and I had NFI why

…………. it looks like Australian cars will be caught up in it too, …….

Yes just listening to the 2pm news …
and it was reported that ACCC have today started investigation into VW Australia for misleading conduct etc (under their set of consumer rules) ….  plus the Commonwealth Dept of Infrastructure (responsible for administering ADRs, vehicle licencing etc) have asked VW Aust for proof that NO vehicle sold in Australia was fitted with the engines and the attached software that has popped up in USA and Europe (that has caused the storm over emissions non-compliance)

I think it will be interesting here

Whilst Morally wrong, is this technically against the law? ………….

in the US, the answer is yes. And that is the reason why the US federal authorities are playing hardball with VW.

As the cars don’t normally meet the emission rules when running on the street and the test results are being falsified (by the tune change) to state they do comply when on the street, that is a CRIMINAL offence under US law. In addition,  US Environmental Protection Agency says Volkswagen could face penalties reaching $25 billion over rigged emissions tests on its cars.

The latest I have heard is the US Feds are looking to have VW remove ALL (yes.. ALL)  6 million vehicles
off the street NOW. Customers will be told to return them to a VW dealer and they will not be allowed back until complying engines are fitted. If that is the case.. goodbye VW in the USA

And it is not better at home, just reported on REUTERS –
GERMAN prosecutors have launched a preliminary criminal inquiry into the pollution cheating scandal that has engulfed auto giant Volkswagen

HSV think a car ONLY available with an auto is the highlight of their performance range

the starting price is a $2500 premium coz of that stance   :negative:
