Got my front seats back from the trimmer just before Christmas, I gave him some creative licence and said I just wanted grey, he came back with this:
I first thought that it was too dark, but the grey vinyl matches the duplicolour grey perfect :yahoo:
The downside is that now I have to trim the back seat and redo door trims so it all matches!!
The upside is that it will look horn!!
I left my run on ordering carpet too late, everywhere is shut for the Christmas break, so now have to wait till the 9th to make an order.
Don’t worry about the headrests, they will be getting sorted when I get the roof lining changed and the car is at the trimmers

November 21, 2016 at 7:07 am #20659Finished the bones of my dash this weekend, found replacement broken sections from previous owners/repairers
All painted in duplicolour vinyl paint, its a darker grey than the colour I was looking for but it’s close and I like it.
Need to keep moving my fuse box into the glovebox and just a tidy up of everything else and the inside is just about done once I put new carpet in.
Hopefully next year I can start playing under the bonnet
November 8, 2016 at 2:54 pm #20498Heres another shot, pardon the torch lighting up the photos for me, it was dark by the time I had finished
November 8, 2016 at 2:53 pm #20497Should work now, unfortunately when photobucket saves the link on my phone, it replaces some of the code, all fixed on a pc now
November 7, 2016 at 9:33 pm #20486Found a grey crash pad so pulled the dash out and replaced that, while I was doing that I moved the fuse box inside the car, still need the lower part of the dash so will be in pieces till I find that
September 11, 2016 at 3:25 pm #19582Seems my rough idle and over fuelling is finally sorted, starting to get some confidence in it now, went for a drive in it today to pick up some interior parts.
Getting rid of the flame interior and changing it to grey berlina, so far I have the rear seat!
September 8, 2016 at 8:03 pm #19512Went for a drive on Father’s Day, my kids loved it!
Was intermittently running rich and bogging down, was really frustrating.
Just finished fitting new injectors and fuel pressure reg, seems to idle a lot better but a bit late to go for a squirt now, will find out if it’s better on the weekend
August 23, 2016 at 4:50 pm #19235I have a question re the club rego, as I am not sure we have the same thing here in SA. How does a relatively modern car like this one get it? I assumed it was only for old restored cars? Are there restrictions on where and how often you can drive it?
In Victoria, you can get Club registration on any vehicle that is more than 25 years old, the restrictions that I have is I can only drive 90 days per year and I must fill out a logbook. It’s more like a permit than rego
August 23, 2016 at 3:54 pm #19233Club Rego today!!!
Surprisingly cheap insurance through Shannons as well for agreed value!!
August 16, 2016 at 7:09 am #19067Pulled all the new suspension out of the VB and swapped it into the VL on Sunday just gone.
The front is all Nolathane with lowered King springs and Monroes
The rear is all Nolathane with lowered Sedan King springs and adjustable panhard, Shocks are different sedan to wagon so will need to source some new ones.
Just need to do inner and outer tie rod ends now and I can get it aligned, Still waiting on my forms to come back from my car club but I can just about taste rego now
August 11, 2016 at 4:23 pm #18981Killer car, It’s a shame you can’t do backyarders!!
I want my bay to look like that!!
HDN05l you wouldn’t happen to have a link or something for the washer bottle?
August 11, 2016 at 4:18 pm #18980Thanks, I thought I had put it on wrong until I got a bit of heat into it.
It was really glossy, but once it dried out it turned matte and started going wrinkly
Heres a close up:
And here it is back together
August 11, 2016 at 2:36 pm #18977Haha, yea the headlining is going, as is the rest of the interior.
I’m going to get it redone in grey, might do leather seats, but the black and flames do nothing for me.
Pulled the rocker cover off today and painted it:
Before:
After:
Used heat resistant wrinkle paint
August 9, 2016 at 9:42 pm #18941Rwc done today, just needed a windscreen, rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders.
Got it running better, found a loom for the auto not plugged in, reset ignition timing and replaced the air flow meter, fixed a couple of dash lights that weren’t working.
Dropped my forms off at my car club for club rego.
Nearly ready to use!
The worst thing about not getting it painted myself is that when the screen was removed to be replaced, found a heap of rust around the frame :( The screen obviously wasn’t pulled out to paint it.
I have to replace the head lining anyway to something not as loud so will get the rust fixed at the same time later in the year
July 31, 2016 at 5:06 pm #18815It’s not factory black, was originally beige
May 29, 2016 at 7:19 pm #17334Pulled the front end out today, painted up the inner guards, taking the struts to work tomorrow to pull apart with my vice and Spring compressors, got all new bushes for the front, lowered King springs and new strut inserts. Then sort out the brakes!
looking at putting VT brakes on the front for when the LS goes in there’s one less thing to do! I already have to change the master anyway seeing as I have a disc brake rear now and don’t want to do things twice.
I bought a VH sle interior for $150 (front and rear seats, 4 door trims, headlining and interior lights) so slowly been gathering bits to change over the interior, it’s Blue and in really good nick, so a whole color change inside. And now I have to paint it as well, Red outside with blue inside will annoy me
May 7, 2016 at 9:20 pm #16671Found an SLE rear bumper, it’s off a VH and the rubber has had it, but it’s there!!
May 2, 2016 at 3:29 pm #16543Thanks mate, was using the correct tools, the thread failed on the bleeder
All good, sorted a new bleeder today and it fits in the caliper and tightens, which wasn’t happening before!!
May 1, 2016 at 6:04 pm #16504Worked on the back end today,
fitted new upper and lower trailing arm bushes, adjustable panhard, new sway bar bushes, lowered springs and shocks. Rebuilt calipers and new rotors and new handbrake cable.
Went to bleed the brakes and stripped a bleeder nipple, couldn’t find one today so will have to source one during the week.
Just need to replace the tyres now and it’s finished and time to start on the front
