Yep, will be 100% street legal, just need a motorsport authority card for the roll cage , and all the other modifications are subject to a cert check which includes a brake performance test.

This car will easily comply :good:

    Needs wastegate dumping to atmosphere!

    Haha yes,

but this car will be street legal here in NZ, and will need to have wastegate plumbed back to get certed.

Coated the manifolds and crossover with VHT Flameproof paint, baking it on in the BBQ then will apply titanium heat wrap.

That looks bloody nice. You said you used a V6 K frame. What engine mounts did you use? Is that a better option than a V8 K frame?

I used the “Bel Air” engine mount and starter relocation kit which was designed around the V6 K frame and power steering, it uses V6 mounts which would be fine for an NA build, but I upgraded to V6 billet mounts for added strength.

I believe the V6  power steering rack is not as bulky as the VK/VL rack giving more clearance for headers (not that I’ve got any pipes going down that side)

Also the starter bolts on, no sandwich plate required.

    I wouldn’t recommend a Z grip for a boosted car

My clutch never slipped, just went bang .

A two step will produce boost off the line resulting in much more power and load being transmitted through the clutch and drive train especially on sticky tyres.

LPE LNC-003 being ordered this afternoon, and new 15×5 front steel wheels for front runner tyres also being ordered. then to pull the box out and send clutch off to get rebuilt, and then hopefully time to go back on the dyno before the next round of racing…

That clutch isn’t rated for the kind of power your gonna make, ditch it, or sell it to someone with an NA setup.

Mine is not the only case of a granading Z Grip……

That’s insane. You’re very very lucky!!

Lucky most of it went down , one 6″ chunk of pressure plate was imbedded 2″ into the tar seal !

    Intercooler mounted

Cross over pipe done, V banded and flexi on drivers side.

Cobra head elbow for air filter in inner guard.

60mm Turbosmat pro gate plumbed into 4″ downpipe.

This section has been made to easily be removed for plug access etc

Hopefully ram around 18psi into my fast manifold today. Will let you know if it splits lol.

A mates lasted quite a while at 14psi , but ended up splitting a runner.

had it plastic welded and appears to be holding up okay.

18 psi is gonna wake that sucker up :yahoo:

Engine Update……. Engine is sitting on the test bed with almost all wiring and sensors being complete. I got a fuel reg built into the fuel filter, and very close to being able to fire it up. Main problem at this stage is the cost of getting VATS etc changed, I was quote $400. Now I am considering buying HPTuner and deleting the VATS, then I will be able to change diff ratios, etc with the added bonus of being able to have a code reader and possible trying to tune down the track. I would appreciate anyone who has used any program like this to let me know their thoughts…

If you can’t find someone cheaper to turn VATs off, buying your own tuning tool is worth while if your prepared to put the time in to learn the ropes.

I use EFILive, but HP tuners is popular too, and maybe a bit easier for the novice.

You can download EFIs software and look through all the available tuning tables without buying.

The thermal coatings look great, but they don’t reduce under bonnet heat as well as wrapping.

Seen a few Fast manifolds split under boost, great for N/A though.

the victor juniors with an elbow don’t flow as well as the Hi Ram but are easier to package.

Yea the Hi Ram is pretty fricken tall, but looks so tuff and works well on boosted combos.

gonna take a big reverse cowl to cover though.

Bought it off a mate who had it in a VY ute. A friend of his who specialises in turbo rebuilds bought a bunch of them off e-bay along with a heap of spares.

Its a pretty special piece of kit, should get me to my goal of 1000hp plus B-)

Be gentle with that Z Grip until it’s replaced, when mine let go it destroyed the bell housing as in no bellhousing left – smashed starter, smashed block and sump, broken gearbox bosses, holes in fire wall , smashed inlet manifold, tore through brake lines ( no brakes) damaged wiring loom, blew a tyre out. But I do still have both feet !!!

Don’t leave that clutch too long, I grenaded a Z grip, on my turbo VX, huge amount of carage :negative:

You’ll never run the times the car is capable of with a manual, which can be a bit frustrating, and the more power you wind into it the harder it gets to drive.

I’m nearly ready to ditch my M6 in favour of a 4l80e, but still enjoy a fang with the manual

Progress – Ajay has done the manifolds for each bank.

Had the manifold faces surfaced before the crossover pipes are built.

Started on the intercooler, Ajay has built a custom intercooler out of two cores to get the size we were after, core is 450x450x100 with 4″ inlet and outlet.

A work of art , and should flow plenty :good:
