It’s actually an alloy, 90% copper / 10% nickle.
“The braking system in road vehicles is one of the most critical items for safety. Tubing, transmitting hydraulic pressure from the central master cylinder to each of the slave cylinders at the wheels, is particularly at risk to pecking damage from stones and corrosion by salt thrown from road…[Read more]

I think it’s nikel plated copper. I just got it and all fittings from Hydrlink here in NZ, but if you search for 3/16 Copper nikel brake tube on eBay you’ll get plenty of hits. I used around 8 meters to do the whole car.

Haven’t done alot of late , but did manage to fit VY V8 booster /master cylinder, bought a mounting bracket fabricated by another VK enthusiast, still had to weld up the hole on master cyl push rod and redrill to give original pedal position.
Made new brake hard lines, and plumbed a B&M line locker on the rear brake line.
I ran the front…[Read more]

Well after seeing VRSenator06 post with powder coated crossmember, i decided to give the VKs some love.
Crossmember powder coated in satern black, decided to paint the lower arms as i didn’t think the powder coating would stand up to pressing new ball joints in place.
Replaced the bushes with Super pro bushes.
Painted the “Z” arms , washers and…[Read more]

Cleaned the dust off and pushed her outside for a few pics
Next job is to replace the intank pump with something that will keep up with the surge tank and E85 compatable. Then install the fuel tank.

Finished fitting the rear brakes, tigged the retaining nuts inside and out.
Had to clearance the backing plate slightly to clear the calliper, and moddefied the brake hose retainer to take the VZ hoses.
Also required 3mm Washers between the backing plate and callipers to centre them correctly on the discs.
Job done !!

No the VT-VZ backing plates won’t fit the early girls, only the VS IRS.

I Coppied the idea from a post on the Calais Turbo forum, with the modified handbrake shoes you can run any VT-VZ rear discs and same with callipers once the backing plates are re-drilled to suit.
With a VY booster /master cylinder I should end up with a pretty good brake combo (more than enough for the weight of the car) for around $1000.

Started modding the rear brakes to take the VZ HSV callipers and rotors.
First up ground the pad material off the existing handbrake shoes.
Then bought a new pair of vx/vy hand brake shoes, as you can see they are a very neat fit over the original VK shoes.
Tig welded the VX shoes to the VK shoes, then cut the VX shoes to form two seperate…[Read more]

Made a new parcel shelf to fit around rollcage, came out pretty nice.

picked up a set of VZ HSV brakes ( should be enough to stop the beast)
Painted and skimmed discs
Fill those 20s much better
