I had the tyre spray problem covered with a piece of 3mm plastic moulded to shape and bolted to the inner guard and bumper to stop the water spray and any crap flicking on the filter and I figured the passenger side opening in the group A bumper would help with the airflow, it was definitely no worse than having the intake under the bonnet where the stock vortech setup usually is

Got to be better drawing air from outside the engine bay.I had no other choice anyway with the way my set up was designed.

I have ID 1000’s in my xr6 turbo, wanted to get the same injector for the 355 but they don’t supply a full length one and i didn’t want the adapter. The X spurt 1000 is available in the longer length so i bought a set of those.I’m assuming yours are also full length?

If I’m not wrong, when at speed the area under the wheel well is a low pressure area and not as good as you would think. Also not that crash hot when it’s wet lol

What’s wrong with low pressure?A ram air set up would be ideal but impractical on a street car due to bonnet scoop or a forward facing opening.I thought a rear facing cowl like the one on your VR was to create a low pressure area forward of the windscreen so at speed  induction  is easier?

Spot on about the wet days.

So you removed the washer resevoir and put your filter down there?? Ive noticed alot of marks workshop do the same thing. Thinking about doing it myself??

That Whipple you have would benefit from a cooler intake temp. When i considered the Whipple before going the Vortech i thought my existing cold air box would have worked great and could have plumbed straight in.IAT’s were ambient when not in heavy traffic, checked off a lap top.Air was ducted from the front bumper vent hole to under side of pod and from above headlight, the top was rubber sealed to bonnet.Picture on page one.

The problem with having it down in the front guard is the risk of water soaking the filter when it rains.I will be making a guard  at some stage to stop the spray off the front tyre.

Well, have finally finished the intake/discharge ducting for the blower.Happy to be moving on to other area’s that need to be finished.Need to drill and tap nozzles for w/m,iat sensor and some electrical issues before moving onto running line from tank to engine bay and wire up controller, solenoid etc. Also have to template for a blower bracket brace.

Have decided to try and improve the cooling of the blown 355 by ordering a custom PWR radiator.Existing 4 core B/C struggles in summer or on a twisty road.Hoping to get some more capacity as it’s grouted and extra efficiency with the 68mm core. Was never convinced there would be a big enough benefit for the cost but have to    try and get the temp down.

    Some pics

Bypass valve is plumbed so it recirculates, don’t want any residual spray getting vented into engine bay.

Those pods on the top of the console look nice. Are they off the shelf of did you make them?

Made them up out of 2″ exhaust pipe and then had them chromed.

Bit late…but this how mine are done.Angled to driver and easy to see.

Heads up display with tach, water, oil temp and pressure would be a nice set up if available.

Yeh know what you mean about the pipework lol.

If budget no real worry take my advice and put a nice solid roller in and those Higgins heads……job done and you’ll hit your target with ease.

Spot on about the spare parts, has been for years.

I know the Camaro intake, had a look at that while i was planning mine. Was good to see Vortech makes one much the same and still gets good power .

Best VN model made, big cubes and Perkin’s developed intake…beautiful car mate.Soooo much potential in that engine,i’m sure you’ll get there.

Had a chance to have some full throttle runs with this car behind me on the other forum’s winter cruise a few years back now.Don’t know what it was making then but mine had no trouble pulling away.

Big fan of the OM’s ,don’t know about the 20″ version though.Gold FR’s suit the car nicely.

10.5 with alloy heads would have been ok with a w/m spray or good intercooler, but with iron heads it’s a bit more of a  problem.

    288 is popular,wouldn’t say it’s small,duration wise.Street roller out of the budget?

No paint.Inserted gauges neatly into fascia.Used the wrong Araldite behind to strengthen and some small crack’s have appeared over the years since it was done. Don’t think i’ll bother to fix,it’s no show car and i’m getting old lol.

Those springs look a little under done lol.Need some tighter wound ones with more return strength….but i know you just had them lying around. On the right track.

Custom air box like the one i had for the Grp A manifold would work great on the Whipple.IAT’s where at ambient until stuck in traffic.

Blacked out front would look heaps better.
