Bit late…but this how mine are done.Angled to driver and easy to see.
Heads up display with tach, water, oil temp and pressure would be a nice set up if available.

Very very nice.White with gold wheels always looks good to me and the VK has always been my favourite 1st gen.
Pics of engine bay would be good.Blow through Vortech?

Had an organic twin plate behind a T5 and my 355,worked well ,rated around 700hp.
Agree with cava,no cerametallic button clutch’s for that box.

Yeh know what you mean about the pipework lol.
If budget no real worry take my advice and put a nice solid roller in and those Higgins heads……job done and you’ll hit your target with ease.

Spot on about the spare parts, has been for years.
I know the Camaro intake, had a look at that while i was planning mine. Was good to see Vortech makes one much the same and still gets good power .

Best VN model made, big cubes and Perkin’s developed intake…beautiful car mate.Soooo much potential in that engine,i’m sure you’ll get there.
Had a chance to have some full throttle runs with this car behind me on the other forum’s winter cruise a few years back now.Don’t know what it was making then but mine had no trouble pulling away.

10.5 with alloy heads would have been ok with a w/m spray or good intercooler, but with iron heads it’s a bit more of a problem.
288 is popular,wouldn’t say it’s small,duration wise.Street roller out of the budget?

No paint.Inserted gauges neatly into fascia.Used the wrong Araldite behind to strengthen and some small crack’s have appeared over the years since it was done. Don’t think i’ll bother to fix,it’s no show car and i’m getting old lol.

Those springs look a little under done lol.Need some tighter wound ones with more return strength….but i know you just had them lying around. On the right track.
Custom air box like the one i had for the Grp A manifold would work great on the Whipple.IAT’s where at ambient until stuck in traffic.
Blacked out front would look heaps better.

Thanks, just want to drive it lol.
Originally i wanted to lay carbon fibre over them and clear coat, would have looked great but i don’t know if i had the skill to make it look spot on,too many joins. Then thought i’d 3D print the carbon weave on,but it would always look like stickers, as good as it can be.So i have settled on getting it smooth as…[Read more]

Thanks.I’ve tried to use as much room as possible for the ducts so it’s tight everywhere. The process of getting the ducts on and around each other is a tricky one,any bigger in certain areas and it wouldn’t work.
Had to take this section out of bonnet support to clear the blower to intake duct.

Cheers mate.Yeh it’s fantastic to make complex shapes but as you said its a painful to sand.Covered in it by the time I’ve finished.Finish sanding with wet and dry is more enjoyable and comes up smooth as glass.
Alternator is in the standard position.Housing has been touched up in a couple of areas to give volute some clearance.

Nothing less than 4.11’s if you go T56.Best of both worlds, great punch through the gears and like manta said cruise no worries in 6th.Actually with the cam i have i’d prefer a shorter final gear ratio to keep it just above 2000rpm where it prefers to cruise on the highway. If i ever rebuild the box i’ll get the last two ratios shortened up and make…[Read more]

Time for an update.Still working through making the intake/discharge ducting for the Vortech.Progress is slow but i thought i’d post up what’s been done so far.The process of making a mould from scratch, shaping, checking for fitment countless times then glassing it soaks up a lot of hours but it’s starting to come together.
