No need for a 4500 stall on a car with a torque and power curve like mine, would be throwing away lots of the usable parts of the curve. It makes 80% of full torque at 2,000rpm. Of course we are going bigger with the cam etc so that will change. 4.11’s wouldn’t be usable on the street. Chatted to him last night, (apologies if this isn’t qu…[Read more]

Yea that’s what I am thinking, I dont really want to put a cage in it, so if I can have a bit of a play, do some runs, then get a stout number and get booted, i would be pretty happy. Honestly all I have ever wanted was to run a 10.XX from a 1/4 mile point of view, its more about doing some track driver days, especially now they are building The…[Read more]

Sounds like Cav’s guess may be pretty close to the mark then with my lard ass in it!! Once its all up and running might swing past the local weighbridge so I know once and for all. Thanks all.

Thanks Ian, I guess yours is a bit heavier than mine would be though being AWD? Or do you think its worth paying the extra and going 500kg? Bummer about the box, I reckon I put a jinx on you chatting about it before!!

Good stuff, so looks like the 275/50/15 at 26.4″ is a pretty good bet. And will theoretically have me crossing the line at around 6200rpm. I am not trying to break a record, I reckon that works. I am guessing it all depends on traction/set up anyway. Last time I went down a drag strip was 30 years ago in my little LC GTR and ran 15.2

Wow, that heavy? I seem to remember IJ saying his was just over 1500 and its AWD? Appreciate I have a cast iron block, and heavier diff, but that a lot isn’t it? I guess I will need to weigh it at some stage. According to the web a VR V8 came in at 1477kg?

Never had it a weigh bridge, I am going to take a guess at say 1550kg, so I think that’s around 3400lb. Power aiming at 700ish hp fly. Diff is 3.55:1, glide so no overdrive. I have played around and different calculators seem to give different results, not sure what the best calculator is?
