From an engineering viewpoint not that impressed with those bolts in shear. Be nice if the load was taken through dowel pins and the bolts just held it together. But great concept.

VL must be different to a VR/S. On mine the VT-Z whole backing plate, handbrake mechanism etc is a bolt on swap. The 4 bolts that hold it all on are the same spacing, you unbolt it all and just swap it. They must have changed it when the went IRS from the live I guess.

Hopefully the secuity certificate thing is sorted.
So I have been using Imgur for a little while now, seems pretty good and easy to use. The trick I realized is rather than just copy the basic link, you need to select the drop down on the image, pick “get share links” and copy the “BBCode (forums)” link. Seems to work pretty well.

Yea, I use Imgur now that Photobucket has gone feral. If you upload your pics onto it, which is actually pretty straight forward, you then pick the drop down arrow on the image, and select “get share links” then copy the “BBCode” and paste that into the post. At some stage i will doa full write up on it, just haven’t had time.

I get it, and if I all I cared about was 60′ times and the quarter your right, but seriously I will go to the drags once, and if I get a 10, I am going home and most likely wont ever be back. Its just not my thing, which is why I haven’t been down the track for over 30 years. The stall is 3500 now, I can’t see peak torque on this being way too…[Read more]

Yea it is, I dont think there is a way around it. Going a manual VL rack gives a little more room. Guys that dont care about engineering shift the rack across slightly. With mine being engineered I found using Tuff mounts meant the engine hardly moved under load. I spent ages with the engine mounts loose, and the engine on a jack and block of…[Read more]

Sounds like a great build mate (and a top misses!) Look forward to following along. There are a few LS swap builds on here. Check out Cava’s VR/LSa, IJ’s VR(Lexcan)/AWD charged beast, Cappsys VL and my Senator. Fitting extractors to these are just a pita, seems to be all about getting the angle of the dangle right

I would be happy as if it ran consistent 10’s, and a solid mid to low 10 would be awesome, and what i would like to achieve at some stage. I cant imagine it having a 9 in it in full street weight, with interior etc, with an IRS. But if it ever ran 9.99 you guys would hear me screaming on the east coast

From memory, on mine it cleared, i just wanted a little more clearcance. Tbh I follow lots of conversion builds, and I have never heard of anyone having to make clearance on a T56, or a 4L60/65 either. On mine when I went to the powerglide with the Read case, (which is chunky) it needed it with the 4into1’s but I think you should be OK with y…[Read more]

Thats a different way to do the hand brake, haven’t seen it done like that before, means you can keep the original discs? Plates look cool

Yea nice, I know what you mean, costs add up, if you are going to spend money like that may as well go a nice manual. Just out of interest what would you go if you went manual?

Not T56, but on my 4l65e (separate bell housing) with the paccies, I did shave the bell housing a little to give more clearance.
