When Stephen Bell tiuned mine last time, he found #8 lead was only resting on the plug. Had the same issue, so much power/noise was hard to pick. Maybe some nice shroud to cover the gear linkage, or just clean it more regularly from now on?

A certain Ferdinand Porsche probably had the same atitude! Besides its a racecar, they always need development (and you have the skill to do it).

I am not “Mr Mill” but there is a little more to it than using a lathe, or just taking fine cuts. The rotation of the cutter when it enters the workpiece for example has an effect. Might be worth a bit of YouTube work
