All good mate, if you don’t buy it, it means the longer it goes the better chance I have of picking it up one day ha ha. It’s all personal preference really, I think the VN/P SS look fantastic from the outside, not a big fan of their interiors. But imo the VR/S HSV’s were the most beautiful of them all. Have you seen the VP SS Blake from the…[Read more]

Actually one of the guys that work for me has a genuine VR V8 5 speed manual exec, and I think it’s live. It’s done a bazillion k’s, rough but honest, and would be a great base for a build. If I didn’t have so many bloody cars I would buy it off him. And before you ask its in Adelaide, and I am not sure its for sale but I can ask him for yo…[Read more]

I have actually been feeling exactly the same way. I posted on a welding forum and they suggested a few tips (extra lights, magnifiers, etc) which all helped a bit but didn’t really make a massive difference. I reckon the funds from the power steering pump are going to go to a helmet like yours. Should help me with the Kombi

Personally if its a project car, I am guessing you will end up with a bit of power and maybe want to race/skid it I would go live. But as Cav has said I wouldn’t necessarily choose the car based on it but if both were available I would go live. As Immortality has said the IRS on second gens if pretty ordinary. In fact, let’s be honest its pr…[Read more]

Had a bit of a health issue with my old man on the weekend so didn’t get a lot done. Did manage to get the starter support bracket fitted up, that I think has sorted the noise on cranking.
But I wasn’t totally confident I had adjusted the ratchet/glide properly. So just went around to see the boys at Norwood Auto’s. They happened to have a VR…[Read more]

Beautiful mate, I had pretty much the exact same car back in the day. Mine was ex cop so had the full SS interior. Great to see if getting the love and attention it deserves!! Thanks for the update.

VRSenator065 started the topic 24T vs 58T Reluctor Wiring Change in the forum Engine Conversions & Engineering 5 years, 6 months ago
When doing the LS conversion, it’s possible to run the later style 58T reluctor wheel on an earlier ECU but you need to run the Linkenfelter conversion box. If you decide to swap the reluctor wheel like I did to the 24T, you can remove the converter box (so one less thing to go wrong.). If you do you need to swap the cam sprocket, and crank a…[Read more]

Thought I would post this summary in case its useful for anyone else;
Changing from 58T reluctor wheel to 24T
You do NOT change the wiring going from the 58T (beige) crank angle sensor to the 24 (black) one. You do need to snip off the locating pin in the black sensor with side cutters then just plug it in, orientated so the locking clip still…[Read more]

I recall reading an old hotrod trick was to mill the face of factory headers at a slight angle to get them to hug the block more. That an option?

Looking the goods mate, beautiful work. Now bear in mind I know next to nothing about this sort of thing. But is all the torque reaction of the front drive shafts taken out through the poly bushes and tubes? They don’t look particularly long, when you accelerate/decelerate will there be a big twisting moment on them? Just a thought, could be…[Read more]
