Dropped off the parts to Brenton at THR as he wanted the main caps etc for when he is boring it. Got a nice tour of the workshop, very cool. Didn’t realize along with the engine dyno, they do their own engine machining as well as restorations and chassis work, lots of cool are in there. Had a good look at the engine dyno room, also very coo…[Read more]

Yes it’s buried back there somewhere… Basically the Australian Jenvey distributor recommend Marelli IWP injectors. Problem is they are a great injector, but designed to be mounted at the top of the trumpet spraying in like in a racing Ducati. Consequently they have a very wide spray pattern. But on my intake it means the outside of the spray…[Read more]

So true, do feel a bit like the main issues I have ever had are only when I hand it to someone else. But unfortunately I can’t tune, and tbh don’t really have the desire to learn.

My experience was the pacemakers 1-3/4″ fitted the simplest, I have the CRE 1-7/8 4 into 1’s and yep they are bloody tight. Splitting the drives side into 4 separate pipes helped.

You sure about that Cav, I had an ex cop VL back in the day and it had a T400, they are a pretty big box, but I guess a 6L80 is longer than the 400?

Yea exactly, that’s pretty much exactly the scenario Brenton described, makes sense. Poor engine really from day one being sold totally the wrong injectors didn’t help, all started there washng the bores and contamination the oil. I am really hesitant to talk tuners, I always try to focus on the future not the past, its done, I am comfortable I…[Read more]

I said above, I took it down to Brenton Marusic on Saturday, he carefully looked at it all, heads, pistons, crank etc and he looked me in the eye and said and I quote “that is all caused by the tune 100%” No I haven’t cut open the oil filter yet. Cav there are literally thousands of race cars etc that dont run an air filter, they dont end up l…[Read more]

+1 for Adam at Precision. He was here in SA when I was building mine and helped me out big time. He is a bloody walking encyclopedia on pretty much all the LS engines. Seriously what doesn’t know about them would fit in a coffee cup. There is a Precision warehouse/shop in SA at Brompton, and Bill Knight is there and is also a top guy. If they…[Read more]

Hi mate, sure here it is, yea look I appreciate what your saying, I was (am) nervous about tackling it myself also. But I spoke to IJ and he reckons to have a go, and when I dropped the parts down to Brenton we spoke about it, and he also said he thought I should. Its actually a big reason to put it on the engine dyno afterwards though, as any…[Read more]
