The other interesting thing about this build is the thermal stability when using high octane ethanol and high mechanical boost. Ambient today was 32° along the Pacific Hwy near Byron Bay:

Modifying the secondaries (collector pipe pre-cat) after installing HSV mid throw tri-ys, went from 1 1/2″ with the OEM torque ring to 2 1/2″ to match the outlet diameter of the primary merge.

Also widened mouth inlet to stock cats and same with outlet to flange. Coz made sense restriction and all that.

Lost bottom end, made it doughy and droney, hideous fuel consumption, but at least it sounded like more power near redline!

Answer was stop guessing based on what looks right with maybe less restriction and research into header design, led me to lengthen pre-cat with smaller dia mandrel, use HFC.

Methyl is for kids who don’t know better, the best alcohol is ethyl – an easy, cheap and safe opiate, both for the Black Pearl and wholesale consumer markets.

Personally 4->1 doesn’t suit your car, and with all the good work it has elsewhere perhaps properly designed extractors are worth a thought.

Packed to the hilt, Coffs Harbour to Sydney (Pacific M1) on e85 averaged 8.5l/100k – best ever. 10.9¢ per km (rip-off $1.29/l at Coffs United). Previous fill was $1.03/l at Mackenzie Caltex.
