Phire aka Gmfan replied to the topic Aftermarket sumps for LS conversion in the forum Engine Conversions 9 years, 2 months ago
I havent checked what sump came on my ls1. Supposedly from a vy ute. Mate has a spare sump that came from a s2 vx. I’ll compare part numbers but he was giving me his sump anyway because he went to a mast motorsports sump.
ASR baffle and windage tray combined was still cheaper than inproved racing baffle setup.

Phire aka Gmfan replied to the topic VT-VY Front LCA in a VR/VS? in the forum Suspension 9 years, 2 months ago
I haven’t tested whether vt+ knuckles will work on vs ball joints but more options for aftermarket knuckles with improved bearings and roll centre/camber adjustment for VT+ than Vr/Vs. That’s if you’re getting serious.

I have access to a few stock front hump sumps. Bought an asr trapdoor baffle kit to suit the early vt style sump and according to ASR you can fit a fair bit more in the stock sump before you have any issues. Also bought one of their modified windage trays to aid drain back. They claim you’ll actually pick up some power with their windage tray too…[Read more]

You rta will normally have a list of engineers they can provide to you and ring around to see if anyone has passed what you intend on building. I know vicroads used to have a list on their website. Might be a start at least?
Edit:
Found it on nsw rta site but phone won’t let me copy link ffs. If you search nsw rta Vehicle Safety Compliance…[Read more]

Phire aka Gmfan replied to the topic 5 Speed auto in VT in the forum Driveline 9 years, 4 months ago
You mean the 5l40e 5 speed auto from an alloytec? From what i can see they are only rated at 340nm so don’t know how they’d like the torque of l67 even if you could adapt it? May i ask what the purpose in swapping would be? Normally if someone goes to hassle of adapting a non-standard gearbox it is usually for strength or some other benefit.

Just watched some of that YouTube video. I was of the impression you weren’t supposed to mash the clutch pedal right to the floor the way he kept doing?

Fli355 what model is that photo from? I haven’t put manual pedal box in the vs yet but in the vt my brake sits much too high to that way either.

Honestly i think you’d be better off having something bolted onto the accelerator pedal that gave it additional height and moved it over towards brake pedal so you can still remove it for street. Lot of frigging around for aftermarket pedal box and don’t think you can use them with a booster which means not very street friendly.

Got a mate with a BMW coupe that should be close to my ‘race’ weight and he only runs single piston front calipers on 320mm ish front and similar rears and hasn’t had any issues with brakes so far. I think front brakes will be fine but have to see how the solids rear rotors handle heat. Next upgrade from there for me would be VN group a style…[Read more]

Slow progress is my only problem. Took time off work and then spent precious days fixing gf’s car. I’ll keep it updated but wont be anywhere near as impressive as your build ij. Wish i had fabrication skills. Would be fantastic to try out some of my ideas without spending thousands for someone else to do it. Job now is keep imagination under…[Read more]

It’ll just be timed super sprint days through Skylines Australia with a few mates at the local tracks ie Winton/Sandown/PI. Nothing competitive. Just a bit of fun and bit of speed without getting out of hand is the plan.

Started this thread on street commodores but obviously that forum circling the drain so thought i’d put it up here.
Basically bought a car for $400 of a young guy. Had a hard life. Doesn’t matter too much. Idea is cheap and cheerful to a degree and initially all stuff will be bolt on/off.
Bought bunch of stuff that’s slowly going on. BC RAcing…[Read more]

Trying to press the bush in from my adjustable radius rod kit. Got it most of the way in but now it won’t budge. The gave of the bush isn’t flat and hole isn’t square in the bush to account for increased caster. Any suggestions or should i just cut my losses and take it somewhere? I’ve dished a 3mm steel washer applying force and still hasn’t…[Read more]

I believe from some brief research i did they use same caliper as au tickford model falcons and then the vn group a rotor for live axle models. Not sure about irs as I’ve not owned a vr/vs with irs. I think any upgrade i do to rears will involve handbrake mods to run vt-vz rears

Will be interested to see how you find the Raptor charger. What coilovers are they? I don’t recognize the blue and black colour scheme? Should be a fun street ute when completed. Assume staying auto? Any work happening to trans?
