While I am looking around the VS Exec manual consol.

Can anyone identify these two large plugs & what they are/were for ?

One has 6 pins the second has 7 pins. I am thinking maybe for power windows had they been optioned ?

    Cheers

I am looking for a good place to get power for the illumination of a 4 Autometer gauge set up I am fitting to the VS Commy.

The gauges all require a wire from Ignition source – Hopefully I can join all 4 required wires to a single source (yet to be identified).

As well as a common earth for all gauges.

Finally there is the illumination of the gauges, which I was hoping could also come from a single source to all 4 gauges & be controlled by the dimmer switch, same as the VS dashes and other lighting around the dash.

So any one got the good spots to take these from all ready in a pic or can identify a good source for them ?

    Cheers

Yeah it’s strange because this morning I go outside & the key remote opens & closes the doors just fine.

No issues. It worries me though that the BCM might be giving me a warning before it total shits the tin.

Good stuff, that’s why forums are so good. They are a good place to store knowledge/info like this. Btw you got a build thread on your car mate?

No build thread yet. I should start one soon as I am getting close to putting the VS Commy off the road to add the mountain of parts I have compiled for it. Some that know me know it has been a very very long time coming or still coming lol.

I might try transferring stuff over from the other forum that looks to be almost dead now.

    Cheers

All that info commodorenut supplied over all those years

    He was a legend

Yes sadly he will be missed with his always expert inputs. The guy could have his own site with his knowledge base.

So glad I found this Thread. I just picked up a (almost) full set of the HSV Devonish Seats & door cards for the VS Commy. I was wondering about those rear head rest brackets as the guy selling them just said “you’ll work it out it’s easy”.

The set was missing the rear passengers door card, so I’m hoping I can find a good auto trimmer in WA who can replicate one for me.

The tubes do look like they would be a pain later when wanting to take the seats out. Might have to look at making “The special removal tool” too.

I believe FaceBook is the reason behind a lot of this. The L67Torque forum is very close to going under I think. It has been neglected by its majority of members since FaceBook got into building instant sites.

I was trying to prop up that Forum, but most people who come there now ask a question & don’t return for a reply. To happy to go to FB for an instant response from instant experts.

I am over trying to drum up interest & donations to keep it alive.

Shame really cause there is always something you want to look back on that is usually in someone else threads.

Bit late…but this how mine are done.Angled to driver and easy to see. Heads up display with tach, water, oil temp and pressure would be a nice set up if available.

Sorry wrong quote was meant for this one.

This is what I was hoping to do using an ABS plastic pipe/tubing material. Years back I remember you could buy the pod surrounds like that already angled so you could fit them individually to gauges. made from a light black plastic material.

Those pods on the top of the console look nice. Are they off the shelf of did you make them?

That’s exactly what I want. Was trying to do just that, but surrounds material seems hard to source.

Hey Nick, yeah pic 7 & 8 going down are a bit like what I was trying to do. Mainly for me (as I have the Exec console), pic 7 is close as I wanted to have the gauges single pod like projecting out & angled up to the driver. Hoping it would look almost like a factory thing if it was neat enough. So for pic 7 I would actually have them more centred a little smige lower & projecting.

With pic 8 I had the brown section made if a black fibreglass, but would then require the bottom half of a stato console to match up with it to look right. So wasn’t really what I wanted to do. The brown section is a flip down door compartment isn’t it ?

Instead of hiding the gauges behind the door I was looking to have them always seen & not use the area behind for anything other than gauge location.

    Cheers

Some more photos for you Gary. This is the spare I have in my shed.

You guys are on the same track as myself. That brown section is what I had a guy try to make up out of fibre glass to re-fit to a exec console section. It was done but just not neat enough for me to be happy with. I actually found some grey ABS pipe that was the right sizing for the gauges to slip inside. Tried to see if I could cut holes it this section to recess the pipe into it. Wanted a look of the gauges projecting out & angles up to the driver.

    your idea.

      My idea.

Once perfected you could probably have a market for them via ebay or the likes. Even variations for the different model VR/VS consoles. I was trying to fill in this area on a exec console using a mould made of fibreglass to later fit 4 gauges. But unfortunately it is to time consuming & hard to get a neat & tidy look. But funny enough I was later thinking of 3d printing or injection moulding.

    Cheers
