Anyone feel free to add your input as I really have no clue where to start and would like to hear it from someone with a bit of experience.

Thanks and best of luck with it !!

...:::::VB 253 SL on the road to being a street cruiser:::::...April 20, 2015 at 7:21 pm #5159Sweet as, aside from the necessities (machine work, balancing) I will be trying to complete as much of the whole car myself. This obviously includes engine, panel/paint, wiring, etc etc. The car needs full bare metal respray, after reading reply to my post on your build thread it sounds like getting the car professionally blasted is the way to go.

...:::::VB 253 SL on the road to being a street cruiser:::::...April 20, 2015 at 1:51 pm #5122Cheers man. I have been thinking for a while that it would be good to get some first gens together in Perth for a cruise. May look at setting something up in the not too far future! Definitely got a lot more in store. I am thinking next thing I want to sort out is a good rear end setup. Haven’t gone through the finer details but I am thinking along the lines of mini tubs (to the rail)/shortened diff to suit/etc. After that I want to take it back to bare metal and do the panel and paint, fix the tiny amount of rust it has and get it looking mint. I will also swap the motor out eventually, maybe at the same point that I do the body work, as I have already started gathering parts for a 355 build. For now though, I am just happy to enjoy it, you may see the rear end setup by the end of this year though, not sure yet. These things are never finished :DOk that sounds great, remember to keep us posted about the cruise. With the rear end, the 3.55:1 must be pretty lively compared to my 2.78:1. How do you think you will be going about taking it back to bare metal ? That’s probably 1st thing on my to do list. Again let me say it’s great to see how far you’ve come with this car and I hope you enjoy it for a long time to come.

...:::::VB 253 SL on the road to being a street cruiser:::::...April 20, 2015 at 1:42 pm #5121Just had a read of the 1st page/saw pics…
Gotta say that looks to be the cleanest example of a VN I have personally ever seen! Absolutely MINT. I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread for sure.

...:::::VB 253 SL on the road to being a street cruiser:::::...April 20, 2015 at 1:39 pm #5120Hey mate that is one fine looking paint job!! Did you take it back to bare metal yourself and if so, what process did you use? I imagine sanding the whole thing back would take forever. Love the look of the rear end too.
Cheers

...:::::VB 253 SL on the road to being a street cruiser:::::...April 20, 2015 at 1:34 pm #5119Thanks fellas. Justin mate I will probably hit you up sometime, about something!! Sounds like the engine machining shop in Midland did a top job? My 253 will be coming out eventually and it would be nice to rest assured it’s in reputable hands… ANYWAY, that’s not in the picture for a while.
