Hopefully not a job I have to do too often. It’s only that one bolt though, the rest are easy.

Hahaha, never booted the bumper. Fair few words were yelled everytime I dropped the tool or the bolt. Lucky it hit the floor everytime. The LS rockers certainly are better positioned.
Took it for a fair drive on Monday, enjoyed every minute of it too.

Good on you for doing it yourself. Although it’s all plug and play, it’s certainly a good feeling knowing you did it yourself once it’s running. Good luck with it.

Good to see the engine in it. It will be interesting to see if the engineer will pass the bonnet bracing cut out. Always thought that was a big no, no.

Looks good mate, makes the engine bay looks heaps better. We do the P/S reservoirs at work too if you want them.

Got 3:73s in mine. Its a good ratio compared to the 3:08. Good cruising gears and not bad on the highway either. I think my tacho might be out (I know my speedo is) because it sits on about 3k at 110kph. But my tacho is a bit dodgy but I will leave that for another thread.

Did the rocker cover gaskets yesterday on it. Everyone that has owned or worked on a 5ltr, knows how difficult that one bolt at the back of the head can be.
Hopefully it has stopped the leak I had previously.

Thanks guys. Always try and keep the bay looking good. The quality is great for an aftermarket product. The Dayco symbol is the only down fall. As for price they retail for about $75. Others on the forum have got them cheaper. I have 3 in stock at work atm.

i’ve got 3.9’s in my vs v8 auto, i wouldn’t go 4.11’s as it would probably rev a fair bit when you just want to cruise, mine seems to rev about 2200rpm there abouts, been a while since it was on the road and i cant remember exactly
a mate of mine had 3.45’s and went 3.73’s and said it’s still not quite enough, also a vs v8 auto

Sometimes when they throw heaps of random codes it means the battery os on it’s way out. My dad’s omega did that and one of the work cars (Ford Fiesta) did it recently.
Seems that is a common things with newer cars these days. If you know someone with a VE swap the battery out to try. No point buying a new one if it isn’t dead.

Tonight after work I found 5mins to fit my over flow bottle. Looks the goods, still trying to work out how to get rid of the dayco writing. Tried lightly sanding and no luck yet. Might be deeper than first thought. Hopefully I’ll find a way to remove. Otherwise not too fussed. Fits great too.

That was pretty much the thought we had, I was worried a bit about turning it over as is with it sitting for the time it has been, was thinking of putting some of the Penrite run in oil I bought into the tops of the pistons, just in case the assembly lube is long gone
Sure it’s been answered somewhere, but what’s the best way of priming the…[Read more]
