I recently bought an A/C compressor for mine as it had started leaking a little while ago. It was the Sanden brand like the genuine one. Not cheap though and you could get them off ebay for cheaper than I paid for mine through work, which I found after buying mine.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-HSV-VN-VP-VR-VS-CLUBSPORT-SENATOR-GTS-AC-AIRCON-COMPRESSOR-5-0L-V8-NEW-/261610934113?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item3ce93a0f61

I can see if they are any cheaper now or if I can even match that price^

Obviously there would be freight on that but should only be around $40 at most I would think.

As for AC Condenser and R/Drier I can price those aswell. They are the same units as a V6 so should be fairly price competitive.

There are actually two different versions of the 123s. A drift version and race version. Not entirely sure of the differences although the drift version has thicker tread and think drift version has more size options. I looked at them and had chat with couple of retailers at last year’s wtac in Sydney. Then the ad08r’s came up at a great price so went that way.

I think that is the only difference between the drift and track versions. The drift version (which I have on my car) roll before gripping but when they grip they are good. I have never taken to the track with them only on the road but you can feel the roll on them, doesn’t give you much confidence really. But with less tread depth you can get rid of that easily.

Could try the Achilles 123S semi slick tyres. Not sure of many people using them in grip situations but are highly regarded in the drift scene. My mate uses them as he was/is sponsored by them and when he first tried them said they were really good and has used them ever since.

He is going to be testing the Kenda semi slick as soon as they release the 180 tread wear version. He has tested the 300 tread wear (street version) and said they are quite good.

I realise drift and grip racing is different but there are some other options for people. He sells both the Achilles and the Kendas through his workshop for those in Adelaide that want some.

NickVR did you move the ignition module aswell, or was it always there?

Yeah moved that too. Always been there since the conversion though. Would like to put it in the cabin on day though and get rid of it from the bay.

    You guys don’t have AC?

I have A/C in mine. VR onwards don’t have a big ugly accumulator sitting there. The pipe comes out the fire wall and runs down the chassis rail along the front of the car to the receiver drier.

Did mine a while ago when I did the conversion. It’s a common thing to relocate these on the 5ltr. The spot they are in is crap and not good for heat either.

Mine is in a similar spot behind the strut tower.

The other thing about swapping to the VT hand brake set up is it then gives you lots of options. Much more choice around to suit VT than the VR/S. So lets say you swap to the VT HB set up, but go with a minor upgrade for now, later on its easy to upgrade again to something more serious. That was my thinking anyway

Yeah the options are far greater for VT, no question there.

I’ve just upgraded my fronts and rebuild my stock rears. Much better then the old VT brakes. If if your gunna track it a bit u might wanna get some Good brakes. Mate runs AP and they just about make u kiss the front window.

More for the looks on mine. Would like them to brake well too though but doesn’t have to be V8 Supercar good.

Looking awesome mate, some great work being put in to it. I have seen Loudz Creations work on Facebook and am a huge fan. One day I would like to get some done for the VR one day but need to buy the aftermarket Altezza lights for him to modify. Plus would cost a bit to get done too.

Main issue it maintaining the handbrake without too much modification.

You can swap to the VT hand brake assembly so it works with the later discs without having to remove everything. You still have to grind the lip of the backing plate, but you cut the backing plate so it will slip across and then you bolt it on. Might be an option. The other way is a press fit ring into the new drum so it works with the old assembly.

I am guessing the adaptor kit is the ring? Its pretty much the only thing that’s different. There’s some discussion about the legality of them, tbh with the work I have done on engineering I really cant see why or how they would care about how the hand brake assembly works as long as it does. In this pic you can the see how the large diameter VT hand brake assembly is compared to the smaller VR/S on the right. So you just make a ring the same more as the VR but the same outer diameter as the VT and press it in the back of the later hubs, some people tack it in place so there is no chance of it moving. To my knowledge that’s all you need to change.

A bolt in kit is what I was looking for as I didn’t want to modify anything to fit. Plus the legal side of it did concern me too. Might have to look into the VT upgrade for the rear then.

I want to upgrade the rears on mine to something bigger. I am running the factory 215i 328mm setup on the front and want something a bit bigger to match on the rear. But haven’t found anything as yet. Main issue it maintaining the handbrake without too much modification.
