Did a V8 Ute experience with Insane Racing at Mallala. A mate of mine is an instructor and got me out there a christmas present. Awesome experience and even better when you have laps with the instructor driving against the others. Great fun.

I like the idea of this. I too like the banana manifold and stock (VT Covers) look. Hope you can make it work, purely because it’s unique and you can keep people guessing.

Where did you put the buttons for the trip computer? or have you removed them entirely?

There is a place in Adelaide called Power Brakes. They made my braided lines a few years ago. Could give them a call if you want to get that braided line.

    Power Brakes

Always cars being wrecked on Ebay. But can be expensive buying individual parts though.

NickVR – Is yours a V8 conversion? If so the cluster will still think its a 6 and will be receiving 33% more pulses than it expects, so will read higher.

Yes it is a conversion. I put the cluster in from the wreck I got the 5ltr out of. Also tried three other clusters mixing and matching boards and tachos and no luck. Thinking it might be the ignition module, I have been told that it can sometimes be the issue.

Shouldn’t do, VR V6 and V8’s used the same diffs/transmissions with the same VSS so there is no difference between V6 and V8 in terms of speedo signal as far as I am aware.

Yeah, tacho is the only thing different from what I found out.

    speedo no. Revs yes

As I thought Cav. Only the tacho is diffferent, and even then it should read incorrectly not erratically.

Nice pick up from UPI. I did the stoneguard treatment too when I did the conversion. Neatens it up nicely.

Looks so tuff like that. It also looks like you might need to flare/roll the guards for a bit of clearance.

Good work mate. Now to get scrubbing to see how good that engine bay comes up. I gave mine a coat of paint while it was out, glad I did too. Just a can job but came up looking good.

Hopefully not a job I have to do too often. It’s only that one bolt though, the rest are easy.

Hahaha, never booted the bumper. Fair few words were yelled everytime I dropped the tool or the bolt. Lucky it hit the floor everytime. The LS rockers certainly are better positioned.

Took it for a fair drive on Monday, enjoyed every minute of it too.

Good on you for doing it yourself. Although it’s all plug and play, it’s certainly a good feeling knowing you did it yourself once it’s running. Good luck with it.

Good to see the engine in it. It will be interesting to see if the engineer will pass the bonnet bracing cut out. Always thought that was a big no, no.

Looks good mate, makes the engine bay looks heaps better. We do the P/S reservoirs at work too if you want them.

Got 3:73s in mine. Its a good ratio compared to the 3:08. Good cruising gears and not bad on the highway either. I think my tacho might be out (I know my speedo is) because it sits on about 3k at 110kph. But my tacho is a bit dodgy but I will leave that for another thread.

Did the rocker cover gaskets yesterday on it. Everyone that has owned or worked on a 5ltr, knows how difficult that one bolt at the back of the head can be.

Hopefully it has stopped the leak I had previously.

Thanks guys. Always try and keep the bay looking good. The quality is great for an aftermarket product. The Dayco symbol is the only down fall. As for price they retail for about $75. Others on the forum have got them cheaper. I have 3 in stock at work atm.
