Next thing on the list to learn is welding. Don’t have much welding to do but it can come in handy. Would love to learn TIG welding. Did a bit of MIG, Braze and Fusion in high school (over 17 years ago now) and that was fun but haven’t done any since.

There is always something to do isn’t there. Just when you think it’s finished, the car throws you a curve ball. Hopefully it’s nothing major with the trans.

They appear to be the power window plugs. Good news for you is a power window conversion should be really easy for you.

Looking very nice Gary. Loving the idea you have for this bonnet. As for the grille, not sure if you can find a damaged fibreglass copy bar and cut out the grille part.

I agree, that looks to be a great idea and keeps the OEM look that this car is all about.

With the Aero Catches, I agree with lJ make sure to get good ones. Also with the engineering side you may find you have to get the catches with locks on them. The secondary catch I am not sure of though.

Unfortunately mine has been lowered so measurements wouldn’t be factory. My other one is lowered to legal height which wouldn’t be much off FE2. The ride is different from live axle to IRS though.  The SS (which is lower) rides fairly soft compared to my other car. Although mine has Pedders front and rear springs with Pedders HD rear shocks and their sports ryders shocks up the front. The rear HD shocks maybe the main cause of a harder ride though. The SS has adjustable Konis on the rear (haven’t checked the fronts) and King Springs all round I was told.

I agree with the others Gary. Not a fan looks out of place. Although it’s been done a million times, a Monaro bonnet or a modded reverse cowl would suit better.

I have spent some time on this thing over the weekend. It’s in a bit of a sad state at the moment, covered in a thick layer of dust, no front bar, flat rear tyre and the interior in pieces. But it be back to it’s old self once I have finished.

Tight fit for the wiring to fit through but it does fit.

Got the gauges sitting in place while I wire them up. Ran 5 wires into the engine bay through the engine loom, that way you don’t see them. It was a hard task getting them through that firewall grommet but got there in the end. Drilled and tapped the manifold for coolant temp gauge sensor and oil filter sandwich plate for pressure and temp senders. Loom all taped up so it looks like it was never apart.

Just have to wire up 2 relays inside the car for gauges and wire up the thermo fan high switch and transcooler fan switch too. Then I need to mount the trans cooler and run the lines to the trans, just waiting on a mate to lend me his nutsert gun so I can fit the mount to the car and the cooler to the mount. Slowly getting there, I tend to take my time with these things and maybe over think things sometimes  :-) . But once it’s done I know I’ll be happy with it at least for now.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Looking good Gary. If you head to the Ryco site you look for filters by dimensions. Those dimensions I looked up but no luck unfortunately.</p>

No idea, haven’t been under the car to look. I know they are Kingsprings from what the previous owner told me.

Did the same with my amp and sub too. A lot of people thought because I mounted it upside down under the parcel shelf that it would over heat. But it’s still working fine.

The VS is looking good mate.

Yeah pretty clean for its age. Needs a good going over but a good cruiser as it is for now. Did a U Pull It run this morning and got a few things for it. Even found a factory tape deck too, hope to get that modified for a usb one day.

Sounds good to me. I’m in no rush, just a thought I had. Let us know when you start doing them.

Great name and great choice in colour of the car too. I might be biased though, lol. Welcome to the forum.
