you live in Qld and don’t use A/C? I’m in Bris and crank mine all the time, but I think my leather seats may have something to do with it. I used to live in Darwin – thank god my A/C worked….

yeah mate, my first 3 cars didn’t have working AC and have never really been one to use it once i got a car with it. Each to their own i spose.

I think if i was looking to build a daily would have AC for sure.

Wasn’t going to post any photos until this was done but have been struck with a question.

As you can see from the photo I have a fair amount of space under my head unit (45 mm) and was wondering what I could put there.

My first thought was to put a pocket back under the stereo, big enough for myphone, lighter etc. I think this would be functional but it’s not super exciting.

Things like switches buttons etc. Would be cool but I don’t think I have a need for many switches haha.

If anyone has any ideas let me know. Cheers.

Na didn’t mean leave it in bog finish just meant if I did the stereo area then would I have to do the gear knob surround etc, so I could get the same finish. I have got a small out of painting experience. Done a couple dashes before.

Billet would be insane…  Not the style I am after tho haha

Got a show holiday at the end of the week so might try use the long weekend and get something done up. Will have to pull the double din out of the daily to get the size,  I’m sure the missus won’t mind having no stereo for a couple days lol

    Thanks for the suggestion mate,

Had a bit of a thought about it, if I was to do the fibreglass/bog option, would I then have to do the section of the centre console, because I would want to achieve the same finish so that it all suited. I don’t really want the console to be black plastic if the upper section is going to be a bog finish, if you know what I mean haha. or will it paint up the same if I just painted both sections together??

I think it is the right idea, because I will have to do something to make the double din fin neatly anyhow.

Would probably look alot better if done properly, I just threw this in with a spare bit of foam I had laying round. Might give you an idea tho. Never seen anyone else with them up there.

yeah that looks alright hey, I was originally gunna put them there but have decided I want to get a double din h/u in.

As for demister, this wont be road registered for a while and once it is I will only be driving it to go to shows and the occasional Sunday cruise, cops here wont really have a problem with it, plus most of them wouldn’t even notice something like missing a demister switch. and if it ever does become a problem, I still have all the original parts I can throw back in.

Another option for gauges, if you are not worried about AC is in the top vents of the dash, up near the trip meter and stuff, cant exactly recall what a stato dash looks like, but might fit in there well?? just a thought.

Yeah go for it mate, it only came about because i was thinking of putting the gauges there (want to try and put a double din h/u in the dash) and a mate said “will the gauges fit in the holes for the controls?”, pulled it out and they did, perfectly. I will be make some adjustments tonight to see if I can get it to fit back in the car properly but should be sweet.
