Noo… Sorry to hear. Someone will pick up a good project
April 22, 2016 at 8:34 pm #16230Do you have any plans to help get more of that power to the ground Manta?
March 31, 2016 at 7:03 pm #15368Does anyone know what max compression ratio these whipples or more importantly this engine will take? At last MotorEx in Vic, bloke at YT stand told me they’ll go on any compression engine. I was pretty sceptical…
But I like it IJ. Will you go to the two piece rear main mate?

March 29, 2016 at 8:00 pm #15322Very very nice. Split bar is an underrated model I reckon

January 18, 2016 at 7:23 pm #13454Yeah good idea Gary. I thought you were going to do the 3d printer thing when you were designing your shifter knob. (Which has turned out pretty good anyhow).
No VH SLE, I didn’t look into door moulds. And which grille are you talking about mate? If you’re talking about the one on my car, it’s a Rare Spares item. They come in a neutral finish, I just painted it black.
There is a market out there for ssomeone using 3D printers to make these hard to get parts. Just won’t be me. I’m flat out using this forum.
January 18, 2016 at 1:47 pm #13433Yeah, XYZ aren’t in the same class. If I had my chance again….
January 18, 2016 at 10:29 am #13426I have a suggestion regarding bumper moulds. I bought some last year, but I don’t have the rear SLE bar, so rears were not an issue from memory.
The front bar moulds were a tad short, so I joined two, then put an over rider to cover up the join. When you look at the bar, you wouldn’t know that it isn’t stock.
So now you have the option, track down a set of over riders, or try get moulds specially made… both still hard to do, but you might have a better chance of getting over riders. They still pop up, but people are willing to pay $$$. Probably cheaper than your initial outlay on the moulds.
Good luck mate.
October 28, 2015 at 12:12 pm #10691Now are you sure you don’t wanna stick to the Aussie 8?? I have a good set of VN heads here….
October 25, 2015 at 9:19 pm #10610Is it possible to make these hard to get parts in a 3D printer then hard varnish or copy via CNC program? Try not to laugh too loudly, a complete computer retard asking the question here.
October 25, 2015 at 6:57 pm #10591Thanks Gary
October 25, 2015 at 3:25 pm #10569Will do. I’ve emailed some footage of the run. (If you can be bothered of course, until I work out why not loading)
October 25, 2015 at 11:31 am #10557Cava, what’s your though process of going to the LS engine. I think I know why, but thought you were a fan of the Aussie 8.
Sorry for side tracking thread, this is a fair set up IJ!
October 25, 2015 at 8:30 am #10551It felt ok Gary. Because the motor is only a couple of weeks in, I pulled timing back to 28 capped the rpm at 7000 and stupidly forgot to screw up the engine vac pump. Ran 10.3 at 131 mph. 1.50 for the 60ft. 6.60 to 1/8 mile. That run was during the day. Track was very good, had 20psi in rears.
Went out for a second. Ran around 9:30pm, went a bit more aggressive on the set up, had timing set at 31, limited the rpm at 7400, vac pump on this time….. same set up as where peak power was made on the engine dyno. Should have dropped tyre pressures but didn’t. Spun tyres in first and second. Didn’t look at the time slip, but I think it was high 12’s.
So out of two runs, only one decent run. It was a pretty busy night as Jamboree cars were doing a bit of testing. But engine felt ok. I think if I got a chance to play with timing, actually change a jet size or 2, I should be in the low 10’s. Not sure if I will crack the 9’s though.
October 24, 2015 at 8:22 pm #10539Do it mate! Got one proper run in last night. I’ll post video if I can and details when I get a chance.
October 21, 2015 at 7:56 pm #10436Sorry to hear Gary. Hope everything is ok
October 19, 2015 at 8:53 pm #10321Thanks SLE355. Looks better in pics then up close though. It’s a bit rough in places.
I’ve ran a 10.7 at 126 last time out with a few gremlins. I don’t think it’ll move a great deal faster then that. Low 10’s would be nice, but I think it’ll be closer to 10.5. Find out soon enough mate.
October 19, 2015 at 7:03 pm #10316Thanks for that Gary. Appreciated.
