Tyres are flat. Look a little fatter then they should.

    Time to make them fit.

Waiting on bellhousing to come from the states.

1900mm is perfect height to work under a car I lifted my garage roof to 3M height to fit my hoist in it

I’d be worried that the roof of the car could hit the garage roof if I’m not paying attention.

My garage roof is 3000mm high. I’ve found a few hoists that are around 2850mm overall height and 1900mm lifting height.

Not sure if that will be too high.

Well if everyone happy, why don’t we also add “what hoist” to the discussion? Height For me I have a regular height shed so I couldn’t go a a full height hoist. I ended up buying a MaxJax. It raises the car to 1.3m, which although you cant stand under it is great if you sit on a wheelie stool to get in under it. I also like the fact the pillars are movable, so I can just unscrew the 5 bolts holding it down, unplug the coupler for the hydraulic hose and wheel the post out of the way if needed. I reckon though if you have the height def go a full height lift hoist. 2 or 4 Post For me the main things I wanted the hoist for was to work around the wheels are, so brakes, suspension etc so a 2 poster was the go. One day I plan on maybe getting a 4 poster so that I can keep the Senator underneath and the rod that I one day plan to build above it. This is mine in action

Hi Gary, where did you get this from?

Don’t think you’ll find an aftermarket ecu in your budget.

The Haltech platinum sport 1500 might be close. But can only run drive by cable throttle.

Way out of my budget. Ain’t spending 4K on Ecu just to run a racepak dash. I rather go full auto meter and sell off my Racepak. I don’t need data logger. Mines predominantly a street vehicle that can run a 9. I’m not trying to be competitive rtc.

in that case. Run a standard loom and ecu with the obd2 port and plug in the Racepak dash.

Better still if you haven’t got the iq3 dash yet. Try to buy the iq3 street dash and use it as a fuel gauge and for blinkers as well.

Yep it sure does. The Racepak is what’s limiting my Ecu selection ATM. Ideally I don’t want to run a $2-3k Ecu cause of a dash when a ls1 PCM or e38 computer will do the same job. Minus the dash.

Except data logging and for turbo applications the boost settings the dominator ecu has are really good too. Has boost vs time. Boost vs gear. Boost vs speed to name a few.

Also has a really good auto tune capabilities as well. I watched a video of someone deleting their tune. Typing in what air fuel ratio they wanted. Gave it a few revs, then it was ready to drive. Not that that’s what I’ll do. But when I fire mine up for the first time. I’ll be able to get it to run and idle before taking it to a tuner.

Because of the dollar it works out to be a bit expensive.

    Prices are approximate.

Ecu is $3000 has data logging built in, which I strongly recommend no matter what ecu you get.

    Main power harness $150

    LSX harness $550

    Injector harness $100-150

O2 sensor $150 each – $350 depending if you get the methanol ones. Which I am getting. Sensors are customized to work with the ecu.

Then you can add as many sensors as you like for $100 without needing to buy any extra modules.

Also plugs straight into the standard sensors.

Im getting a sensor for just about everything. Like 5 or 6 extra and even a tailshaft speed sensor.

$1000 for Racepak dash and harness.

This is something I really need to suss before I make my Ecu selection.

I’m picking up a Holley Dominator EFI ecu next week. Have a good look at it. I spent the day at APSA final and all the LSX cars run it. Everyone said stay away from the Haltech.

They dont currently have a flex sensor. But I’m going to run mine on 98 for the street. Drain the tank and run methanol at the track. Can change the tune with a key switch.

Works with the Racepak dash too.

    Drum for me is $400

Last time I filled a drum up at the servo it was like $250.

I wonder if we could start a timeslip thread with a little more emphasis on the MPH rather than just the ET. It would be interesting to compare some of the supposedly “quicker” cars against the MPH of the “slower” ones. Obviously whether you’re running low profile street rubber vs drag radials makes a huge difference to your ET, but it doesn’t make your car quicker. Lincoln was that Black 6L calais back on SC yeah? Didn’t he cam his 6L as well??

yes Black VZ 6L. After he put a cam in it, he never went 11 again before selling it.

My mates 402 stroker with a 5000 stall in a 4L60 went 10.9 a couple of times, with like 330rwkw.

Your current combo can probably go 10s. You’ve just got to set it up right.

Rear brakes and 35 spline full floaters arrived.

Floaters are from Race Products in QLD and are fully engineer able. The Strange engineering set is not.

Lincoln ran high 11s in his tuned 6L VZ Calais. Diff gears, stall and full exhaust is all he did.

Hey mate, did you do the T400 conversion into the calais yourself? Was it tricky, or does it all bolt in pretty easy, i assume you cant drive it without a tune etc first.

I do most things with my mate, who is a mechanic. But it’s an after hours type deal. So I have help when needed.

I does bolt straight in though. Hardest part is getting the shifter setup exactly how you want it. As in square and centre. Otherwise it’s just like an other gearbox change.

I’d assume that also, because I went t400 at the same time as the stroker.

Hoping to make the cross member myself as well.

Not sure with your HK, but with the VR the mount on the back of the glide sat higher than the original gearbox, so we were able to just use a spacer block between the original cross member and the gearbox. Just saved making up a whole new cross member. As I say thought yours might be totally different. Keep the updates coming, cool build

Something I forgot about today. Spent the day at the APSA final and stuck my head in just about every x275 engine bay. Including a HK monaro, but forgot to ask about his gearbox mount.

Was a very good day though. The HDT275 Vc commodore from QLD is a crazy car. Ran 7.5s on a x275 tyre just before I left.

Apparently with the setup I intend to run should be a good competitor, hopefully by mid next year.

None of the quotes are fitted. I’ll chuck it in myself. Hoping to make the crossmember myself as well.

1500HP + is Reid case territory. did you get equivalent box priced down here? I think you would be suprised on what it would cost TBH. Converter?

I got quotes for $6500 from Protrans. Not sure on the case. But I’d say it was a Reid case.

Going a new converter. Stepping up to a 10 1/4″

1800Hp in what weight vehicle? Yanks rate their boxes to a specific weight. No Reid case? What did that bad boy set you back.

Wasn’t aware of that. There’s no weight listing on Mikes transmissions website either.

I’m hoping that race weight the HK will be around 1400kg. The RTA think it weighs 1100kg standard at the moment.

1400kg is my lower limit in x275.

No Reid case. Couldn’t justify the extra $2000. Can get the bell housings pretty cheap, which are SFI approved.

Gearbox, bellhousing and speedo unit was around $5200. Less my t400 conversion. So not too bad. Or $4000 to have my t400 build to 1500hp.
