    Haha can swing a cat!

Plenty of room for epic turbo setup

Yes, progress is good just wish I hadn’t had a headache

  • klampykixx replied to the topic klampyz van in the forum Non-Commodore Rides 8 years ago

So some things happened.  and I bought some stuff.

Had a horrid headache today otherwise I’m sure I’d have gotten the block out too.

Further progress will come over the following few weeks.

    Things I need that I don’t have.

Shifter, push/pull cable, tailshaft, oils, hoses, and finally the electrics.

Unsure if I want t…[Read more]

  • so im going to be running a VX BCM and want to try wiring up a VS style cluster, assuming it fits in the hole.

if i match sensor wires, and warning lights etc, in theory, will it swap over?

  • Ok I didn’t think it could work like that.

  • Also I can set the Ks to suit the vans if I can go with an earlier cluster.

  • Hi guys,

I’ve been looking at the angry spaghetti monster I’ve got from within my vx I stripped.

Can I retrofit a vs style dash cluster to work with the vx style bcm?

I haven’t checked it yet but I’d bet a vs style cluster would pretty nicely fit in my vans dash.  otherwise I’m up for a full custom/modified cluster and I’d rather avoid that if…[Read more]

So the main Q was answered,  which is longer runners are of no specific benefit to power production/response opposed to short runners.

Second Q.Does a larger plenum still require intercooling compared to a smaller one.

Third Q. If a turbo was feeding a blower via a fmic,  would the blower still also need to be intercooled therefore making the f…[Read more]

  • so ive been thinking about what im going to do with the exhaust since its going to have to be custom.

for a stock motor, including the stock headers, is it worth running dual cats and a complete dual exhaust?

i want it to have a nice note, to not drone, but also be somewhat quiet. as my van has a tendency to drone because of cabin…[Read more]

  • the rear bar clip was actually slightly too narrow as the falcon tapers down quite a bit, where the commodore is quite square in the bum, i had to cut it in the centre, left about a 3″gap in the centre

i screwed it on because i didnt care about the visual, but some good glue and it would be there permanently.

the side skirts were too long, as…[Read more]

Was asking purely to do away with having to buy a manifold and heads.

Wondering if there would be a measurable difference or not

And then to add to the first post, how it would behave once a turbo is included in the setup, like compound boost.

And would having a larger plenum under the blower affect intake temps at all? Or would a cooler still…[Read more]

  • Hi guys I’ve been thinking.

Would an L67 or even a basic ecotec in supercharged form (specifically a positive displacement blower) benefit from longer intake runners at all?

What I’m thinking is to use the stock eco plenum but make up a new lid for a charger to sit on top of.

Obviously this wouldn’t fit under a bonnet but I’d be using…[Read more]

  • So we got the motor out of its hole today, then parked it where it’s likely to stay for a short while.

Next week I’ll be able to afford to purchase the conversion kit, but it sounds like it’s going to be at least two weeks before I can actually purchase it tho as they’re about to do a production run of my kit.

    Here’s a couple…[Read more]

  • Here’s a shot of it on the old car,

  • It is, it doesn’t fit 100% but I like the look of it on there. Its a touch short at the wheel arch, about 1cm or so on each side.

Hoping to find some BA xr skirts and rear bar lip like I had on my old vr before I moved it on.

  • Thankyou sir,

    As do you!

  • Hi guys I thought I’d load a space for my commodore.

Keeping this one as a track hack after the van is v6ified and is then capable of dragging this one around

Has complete vs conversion,  only thing vr left is body /badges/ rear axle. Everything else is vs.

Engine is 40 thou over,  has a Crow cam and springs, balanced bottom end and some l…[Read more]

  • Vats = vehicle anti theft system

Pcm =powertain control module (I think)

The vx runs a flash setup not a memcal setup.

I’m sending it to delcowizzid in NZ to have it reflashed as no vats.  Already been in contact with him.

Can’t wait. It’s getting so close now I’m feeling three maybe four weeks max

  • New sub topic here guys,

ive been told ill find a bit of resistance regarding VX electricals.

can anyone help regards to the VATS and the BCM as to whether or not i can delete the BCM without issue?

apparently i cant just put a ‘no VATS’ memcal into a VX PCM.

if this is true, how much of the BCM needs to be active? can i just permanently…[Read more]

  • Right this minute I’m kinda dropping the idea of turbos for the moment.  My main aim is just to get the motor swap done and get it engineered. If I really want more power after that then I’ll go twins for sure,  curious on where the turbo oil will go though as they’ll be behind the motor so won’t have access to drain back to the sump.

  • man i need to make a solid decision here… lol  because plans are not in concrete so theyre chopping and changing. but the manual idea is out, and sticking with auto.

pending on availability this thursday, 6-10-16 ill be picking up a VX auto wagon pretty cheap. lets hope its still there…

current plan is to leave the v6 and auto stock, and…[Read more]
