Posts: 775Hang in there Ian just do what you do, keep away from people and stay safe, we here in NZ are locked down for a minimum of 4 weeks, I am really surprise that the Australian government has not done the same thing

Posts: 775Have had both and would never go back to Turbo’s, there’s no comparison.
Enlighten me Ian I’ve never been down the turbo root ,only driven friends cars but that’s it , all quit different from 4 -6 cylinders

Posts: 775doing something yourself hands on is the best way to learn and know for sure, well done frazier, not many would have tried what you did. The suspension looks much better now and you will have good handling and ride. Those big spacers just didn’t make the car feel safe and probably would have driven like an old modified chassis dragster from the old days. Working under my car I have seen how weak and flimsy the body/chassis of the commodore really is, and after seeing the strength of IJ’s build, if I had your fabrication skills, I would really make and strengthen all the suspension parts and chassis like you did with the motor/gearbox mounts considering the car was not made for the power you are putting into it considering it only weighs about 1300kg And yes I would have your instant super charger over a turbo any day of the week and keep the car with the more factory comfort feel and blower noise.
Thanks Vin with the power it’s going to have we are going to stich weld what we can and tie the chassis from front to rear lower arms , plenty more fabrication to come

Posts: 775I’d take Handling over Bonnet every time Frazer, thinking a Bulge like a Falcon might be nicer than a scoop though.
the falcon bulge is what I always looked at don’t want a scoop so fabricating something or cutting up another bonnet with the bulge like the fg
the whole car and motor looks way nicer without the spacers had to try it so maybe others can steer clear of the idea

Posts: 775Hey all well set ride height back to standard with spacers still in better but still not good so removed spacers assumed this would happed gear box mount will not work gear box went forward and had to go up 40mm have to modify mount , got about 10mm clearance from tunnel ,so dropped back on it’s paws standard height heaps of angle down (great) now lower ride height arms and steering about 5mm down at hub (awesome) other thing I am happy is a shit load more clearance form the ground to sump and K Frame and bottom of gear box is level with chassis ,,, back to the bonnet bulge it is
Had to try it to see if this would work yes fits under bonnet “but no” there would be a way of using these spacers but you would have to modify the bottom lca and steering to drop down the same amount even if you had standard right height would still be bad enough , so not sure how crs worked theirs out
with spacers in gear box

Posts: 775Thanks Ian I’ll have to do some research into that see how I go, I understand the principle but not how to plot it out , Vin that’s a good article ,
so going to have a play this weekend measure front then set front to standard ride height and measure I’ll have to guess unless some one can measure from centre of wheel to guard I can only do this but adjusting the strut not the spring , once I’ve done that , take spacers out and redo ride heights
