Western Sydney Raceway and Willowbank in QLD have the Nitro Champ Race meets and assorted season events, my Dad and I have frequently seen mid to low 4 second passes there from the few top fuelers we have in Aus. Doorslammers are frequenting high fives now too, they’re awesome to watch :D
I highly recommend going, especially western sydney as…[Read more]

WTH???
I sold my 2004 VZ sv6 with 270,000 kays on it, and other than a tailshaft donut and a clutch, nothing ever needed replacing?? It was bulletproof as long as you serviced it regularly.
I reckon I went through one set of spark plugs, and that was about it… even the manual gearbox was good, interior was looked after, and the seals etc…[Read more]

do most people here understand the relationship between HP and torque?
torque x RPM at given moment = HP (in very relative terms)
Torque at low RPM will give you lots of low down power and driveability, torque at high RPM will give you an awesome peak dyno figure.
It was explained to me like this: (this doesn’t take into account drivetrain and…[Read more]

who cares if they’re replicas, they’ll still look awesome :D just don’t go too wide on the front or you’ll ruin it (IMO)

AGREED ^
There’s a lot more character in a “raw” old car than in a new one. My 2014 holden cruze is way more civilized, comfortable, quiet, economical, and refined as the 02 monaro (and that’s only 12 yrs difference…). It craps all over the old girl in build quality and comfort.
But nobody cares about the guy who tamed his pet maltese puppy.…[Read more]

Just too much…
And I can’t see it skyrocketing in value anytime soon. Yes it is a one off, but you could replicate it too easily yourself, and so many people have supercharged their VEs (using walkinshaw branded gear) that it’s not unique enough

As above, I love the wheels
but i hate the stretched tyre thing, I would have stayed with the 8.5 up front and fit some 285 rear tyres.
But it still looks awesome for what it is

I thought you only had to preload solid liters?
aren’t hydraulic roller lifters supposed to take up the slack for you? either way that sounds ok.
Cav what kind of figures did you end up with? where did you set your rpm limiter?

Hi All,
I’ve recently been having a toy with an old LS1 I bought secondhand for $400, gaining a bit of knowledge on how everything goes together and where the potential is. I’ll be hand-porting the heads for funzies (i’ll start a thread once my die grinder and Burrs arrive).
I’m eventually looking at rebuilding the LS1 in the monaro, and I need…[Read more]

Also keep in mind your ancillaries when looking at a rebuild/conversion.
Will you need a new/secondhand alternator, power steering rack/pump, water pump, belts/pulleys, radiator, the list goes on.
I’ve been looking at rebuilding the lS1 or going an LS3 conversion, and when you look deeper there are small costs that all add up. Little things like…[Read more]
