I was reading through this thread, and was honestly thinking “the only thing that lets the look of this car down is the rubbish exhaust tips, otherwise everything else is really clean and well done”.
It turns out you’re one step ahead of me
Well done on this build for not going over the top on gay bodykits or 20 inch chrome dinner plates

It’s obviously going to get handled alot, so a proper job is a must, but would it be that hard to just paint the knob black?
With the proper prepwork and a crapload of clear it should last just about forever??

Dan811 replied to the topic Modifying that did not work in the forum The Pool Room 9 years, 1 month ago
A friend of mine did EXACTLY THE SAME THING… He called me up and says:
“I’m a bit confused.. I thought i’d top up the oil but I realised after i put about 10 – 15 litres in that you aren’t supposed to fill it to the top. I checked the dipstick and realised I put way too much in. So I jumped underneath and undid the bolt but only like 2 litres…[Read more]

I tried taking off my harmonic balancer on my old VZ SV6, to fit an underdrive balancer.
Never used a 3-prong puller before, couldnt work out how to get the damn balancer off. So i took the bolt out of the snout, and tried to screw the puller INTO the crank snout…
As I was tightening the puller it was crushing the thread inside the crank…[Read more]

It’s also awesome to see a different approach to modifying and tuning.
No forced induction or strokers or huge head+cam arrangements, just clever use of today’s technology and ecu capabilities. I hope more people go down this route for tuning, though I daresay there’s cheaper ways to make HP.
The main thing I love about this car is that other…[Read more]

Dan811 replied to the topic Creating an AWD Monaro in the forum VT – VX – VY – VZ 9 years, 1 month ago
I remember when wheels magazine tested a 230kw series2 Monaro when they first came out, they managed 270km/h in it, which they were all impressed with. I also remember that the 300kw VYGTS (sedan) in the same test only did 275 by comparison, and both were manual.
So 250 in this car with the extra weight and power loss through an auto and awd…[Read more]

The problem is it doesn’t take much to work out that your L/km reading is lying. It also wouldn’t take much to discover that the claimed power output was wrong. Just about everything else that is claimed about a car can be pretty easily measured by the masses, so it doesn’t leave much room to cheat. Even safety requirements are tested by NCAP…[Read more]

How would you go about pulling timing only when the button/solenoid is pressed? Does the std ECU have the ability to do that?

Dan811 replied to the topic VW Cheating Emmisions Testing in the forum News & Events 9 years, 2 months ago
Whilst Morally wrong, is this technically against the law?
The car passed the test, so VW could argue that they’ve implemented the emissions systems to work only under certain circumstances to “protect the engine” or something. Techinically, the car passed the emissions test.
I’d also imagine that their awesome fuel consumption figures would…[Read more]

Wow that Reid housing looks schmick
Really glad to see you’re so close to having it finished (at least in terms of having it reliable drive-it-as-much-as-you-want-whenever -you-want).
But part of me still keeps thinking: “what if… T56 Magnum…”
Hope all goes well with the install

THIS^^^
800 or 850 doesn’t really matter, putting it down to the ground is still going to be a struggle.
But then again, you only have enough horsepower if you’re scared to use it all

WOW, what a thorough job!! The fab work is top notch
+1 for Dynamatting the whole thing, it’s probably at least 50kg of weight (depending on how thorough…) but it will make the car so much better to drive.
Kudos for doing this properly :)

Wow. I didn’t even know these existed??
Very interesting to read though, their warranty claims are quite impressive (though I’d love to hear a few claim examples). But on the whole, the design is very clever. I was under the impression that a TruTrac would still power both wheels even when one had zero load???
Something else I found…[Read more]
