Hey guys well lil update made a bracket out of some L angle alli sitting about and managed to find 2 springs around in the shed and strapped them on and wow idling a bit below 1000 so took it for a drive and maybe 2 blocks down the road idle sitting around 1500. Once i got back home the springs seemed to have lost tension so il go find some this week at work.
While i was at it i gave the old girl a whipe over and a wash also thinking about taking the intercooler out for something a bit more low profile. Looks a lil obvious i think.??
April 30, 2016 at 9:43 pm #16477Nice work fitting that pipework under the bonnet. Looking great.
April 30, 2016 at 1:52 pm #16460Im not to sure about 2 but ive been fiddleing with putting one return spring on and the idleing has increased to 1500??? It only drops once i push the throttle body back then when i let go it increases???
April 30, 2016 at 7:31 am #16455Cheers Vs manta will check it out today. And have other smaller issues gary but overall i think its turned out not bad.
My old man and me went for a drive the other day in it and he was quite surprised being a aussie muscle car man from way back.It was good to take him for a ride and him not be critical or negative ha ha.
Bet there would be some guys who know the feeling???????
April 29, 2016 at 6:00 pm #16440So took the old girl to work today and noticed the throttle is getting a lil sticky as a result is idling slightly high over 1000. And my fuel gauge was noticing it stuck in traffic. weird because when i give it gas at the throttle and let go it sits at high rpm but when a give it a lil push back it sits right (around 750 800). So plan is to check that out tomorrow, go for another spin and go cut some firewood.
See how i go???
April 28, 2016 at 5:58 pm #16416Cheers man. Your ute is a nice ride if i must say. Would be a handful the 355??? And yeah id love to stroke the old girl at a later stage and up the boost but at the moment loving it.
April 26, 2016 at 9:03 am #16352cherry black is a sweet looking colour. Looks mint on the vs hsvs. This looks great so far. Cant wait to see some more work.
April 25, 2016 at 6:48 pm #16317Hey guys just recent update got the car back friday and been good to familiarise myself with it again. Daily is a 4×4 ute. And the power is great. Dont have any dyno numbers due to a slipping new clutch But i personally am very happy. Great car to drive and it has great pull now and the whipple whine is something else. Puts a big grin on my face ha ha il get some more pics up soon.

April 11, 2016 at 12:28 pm #15502Yeah would of loved to have got most of the parts ceramic coated but price was the only issue so just making it look more presentable on the budget i have. I have done alot of the painting myself in 2 pac polyurethane but the motor and headers were just a spray can job duplicolour i think high heat so see how it goes.
April 8, 2016 at 5:22 pm #15468Well heres the motor after and extractors after one coat.
and also got around to putting a new distributor rotor button and cap on while the back of the whipple was off thought why not. And also got the aeroflow fittings welded onto the valve covers so if all goes well hoping to have her some time next week. And i tell you guys i cant wait to take her for a spin been a while.
April 6, 2016 at 9:22 pm #15459Well guys updates at the moment are the new bearings are in and rear main redone. Got 8 an fittings welded onto valve cover for a small temperary catch can. And put in a fan controller for my au thermos. And the old donk has been getting a bit of degrease work almost ready for paint and decided after months of hesitation im ditching the aircon basically because it hardly gets used and makes the bay a bit neater. So hoping might have the motor back in the car by the weekend. But still needs to be dyno’d and tuned properly.
April 1, 2016 at 4:51 pm #15379Well guys she looks pretty bare at the moment.
so all looks well at the moment apart from oil all in the bellhousing all over the clutch plate and yeah basically just a oily mess. Ha ha. Mechanic mentioned to me that the bearings were all original and in great condition for how old the girl is. also getting the block heads timing cover water pump and the extractors painted black just to make the whipple and polished parts highlights. And 2 piece seal definitly.
March 31, 2016 at 5:41 pm #15367Yeah judge1 i agree if i was to do it again id go a lsa. Alot cheaper and better economy.
Turns out the rear main has gone on the old girl started leaking severly so the motor is coming out and getting a new set of bearings while the crank is out and a lick of paint . Cant wait to have it back let me tell you.
March 24, 2016 at 2:57 pm #15202March 24, 2016 at 2:40 pm #15201Yeah i get what you mean sands vs. i was actually thinking when i get some time i might have a go and try make my own like that but for now thats how she sits.
And yeah i know gary ive read your whole build on street commodores then on here. You must be happy to have it all sorted. I know you helped me alot with new rear lights and when i had driveshaft issues. But yeah all sorted now. Havent driven it much since the whipple went on because it hasnt had a full tune. Since then i took the old otr off and put the pod on, put au thermos up and started planning a catch can.
March 24, 2016 at 9:43 am #15194By seal do you mean box it in. Im thinking about doing something with it just havnt got around to it yet. And its at howell automotive but if im thinking i might go to pro automotive i heard the guys out there are good with old 5 litres.
March 24, 2016 at 7:54 am #15190Well for the price i think it would of been wiser to do an ls conversion but something in me said keep the aussie motor. And it hasnt been tuned yet. Running 10 psi atm was running 14 but told it was to high for the stock bottom end and want a bit of reliability.
March 23, 2016 at 6:07 pm #15183So she’s a fairly stock 304.
-custom crow blower cam kit.
-yella terra shaft mount rockers
-pacemaker trys with 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust with megaflow muffler
<p style=”text-align: left;”>-2.4 litre whipple intercooled supercharger with 90mm throttle k&n filter</p>
-all nolathane bushes with koni rear shocks and monroe fronts on king springs new diff mount, engine mounts and gearbox mount-one piece fr 19s
– heaps of other stuff il eventually add in no doubt.
June 6, 2015 at 5:18 pm #7499Well guys got a new clutch put in and flywheel machined apparently the balance was out slightly so it has helped and the unis in the shaft were worn a ill so had both replaced but its still there so getting the diff rebuilt next week with a new gear set new seals and lsd shimmed so that will eliminate the diff. And new engine mounts.
i seem to have a feeling that its the centre bearing and the tailshaft cv?? Because when the car is accelerating slightly you can feel a slight thud like slack is being taken up and again when you take your foot off the gas like the slack is being taken off.
so guys still unsure.
