Not a whole lot of progress lately but starting to come together. Changed my mind on a couple of things, sold my come manifold and bought a harrop hi rise. Bought a set of tri spokes that I’ve been looking for for awhile now, changed the door cards to a set of leather ones. And the biggest decision I’ve changed my mind on is ditching the T5 for an…[Read more]

Got the coolant cross over done on my manifold. Just need to drill and tap a thread for the air temp sensor then I can fit manifold and fit motor into car. Anyone know what size thread I need to tap for the sensor?

<p style=”text-align: left;”>No worries thanks for that, what’s involved in the valley breather and crossover? Fairly simple to do?</p>

Hoping to bolt the manifold up on the weekend, just after some advise on where to put sensors and line for brake booster. Any ideal runner that I need to use and is it as simple as just tapping a thread? Any advise/photos would be great

So need to workout what gap will be ok between the valley and manifold. It’s roughly 7mm gap at the moment( I’ll measure it probably tomorrow). Thinking between 2-3mm gap will be fine? Or is that still to much?

I’m honestly not sure how much was taken off, I was just told it was decked to square. Had a local engineering bloke have a look today and said to put longer bolts and see where they sit in the bolt holes. Then can sit if maching the manifold will help/fix the issue. Probably not a bad idea calling come and seeing what they recommend, as I did…[Read more]

I’ve had the manifold torqued down with gaskets, I can get spacers made thats not a problem. Biggest worry was with the bosses not quite lining up. But as I’ve said I’m not sure how perfectly they do need to line up

Harrop single plane manifold, bolt holes line up and I had the manifold torqued down. Block has been decked to square manifold is brand new so are the heads. Also worried abit about the gap in the valley.

Just wondering how perfect the injector bosses have to line up on a single plane manifold. Mine seem to be out a little but I’m unsure as this is the first time I’ve used one of these manifolds. And no longer have a standard manifold to check with as I got rid of all the standard stuff. Any help would be appreciated

Bit of a setback on the motor, looks like I’m going to have to get the manifold machined. Far bit of a gap and injector bosses don’t really line up that great. All bolt holes lined up so hopefully not a lot of work to get that sorted. Was making good progress and trying to get the car ready for red centrenats 2 in…[Read more]

Yea that’s exactly right, the t5 held up with the old combo with a short shifter and brass button clutch. Mind you that was only making 304hp.

Not overly happy with it and found a new asr sump for a good price aswell.
From what I’ve read the t5 should be fine as long as I don’t kick the clutch in 3rd and give it a hard time. Gone away from chasing massive power with the car and will be happy just to cruise it. Just a matter of seeing how it goes I guess. 3:9s are going in aswell

Cheers man happy with the way it’s turning out, actually have an asr sump on the way for it.
As for the t5, it should be able to handle the power. If it does end up failing I’ll get an auto built for it.

They do look good on an engine stand that’s for sure, be a lot better when it’s finished haha
Didnt end up dropping the vt motor in, just focusing on finishing the stroker. So it’s just sitting on a stand in the shed waiting to find a new home.
