Posts: 535I stopped hosting files on puke bucket years ago, I use a couple of forums to host my pics that allow users to upload and then hotlink from them to other forums if/when needed.
Been a donating member on the JC forum gives the user extra privileges which include a increased upload limit, I also tend to crop photos so that I’m not uploading >1mb file per image to help stretch how many photos can be uploaded.

Posts: 535Hi guys, tech support here. Unfortunately at this stage I have no real news for you, I was totally blindsided by this as I think were many forum administrators out there. Needless to say Photobucket is getting a lot of hate on their social media etc, so I think it may be wise to see how it plays out over the next 24 hours or so. In the meantime I will keep wracking my brain trying to see if I can think of any way to avoid everyone having to edit all their posts. Sorry all
No fault of yours so nothing for you to stress over.

Posts: 535Probably only a matter of time before your pics don’t work me thinks.
You could always host the pics directly on your own forum server.

Posts: 535Didn’t like Photobucket either TBH, I’m not a fan of the so called “cloud computing” craze period because what Photobucket have done will happen more and more where so called free storage will suddenly incur fees and your data will be held to ransom effectively.
I keep all my stuff on my home server.

Was looking for some B&M pro shifter info as I was about to order one and get a drop box made for my Senator.

Posts: 535Considering what has been spent on tuning I wouldn’t be surprised if the tuner did it for free, it’s easy enough once it’s wired in.

Patience…….

Posts: 535My two cents sorry carva for the hijack but I don’t mind the look of the lsa now the standard Ls in my opinion is not nice to look at but hey each to there own ,I like it neat and clean but would not do a show car as I want to drive the dam thing , so some up for me is clean, tidy and strong so less likely to break stuff
I actually agree with the above, nothing better than popping a bonnet and seeing a great big blower living atop the engine Those fugly coils on top of the LS rocker covers really detract from the look of a clean engine bay. I know the old distributor lacks a bit of punch ignition wise but it does look a little neater with the coil been hidden away more. Gary really got that bit right with his build by hiding all the coils around the rear of the engine

Posts: 535I don’t disagree but what I’m saying is that the primary motivator for any mod is to improve the vehicle and form is a secondary consideration.
I’m not interested in spending thousands to reline the dash in leather for example, to me that is totally cosmetic and not something I’m interested in. Same with the wiring in the bay, I’ll make it as tidy as I can but I’m not really interested in hiding the entire wiring loom and moving fuse panels so they can’t be seen etc?

Posts: 535Power over looks for me. I hardly ever pop the bonnet. But I’ll still smooth it and shit to make me happy. Wish I wasn’t that anal
Function over form for me. Make it go as hard as possible and if it looks good doing it all the better.
I had the same mindset and was going to concentrate on getting my VK on the road first and do the cosmetic stuff later but the more I looked into things it was easier to do it now as the car was already in pieces, plus I could do it on the cheap. Hows the to-do list looking at the moment Cava?
Certainly, I’d do anything to improve performance and improving the look but I’d miss something that would only be of cosmetic value. I’d rather put money on something to make it go faster (or stop or go around corners better etc).
Don’t get me wrong, I totally admire those cars that are 100% perfect panel and paint but it’s not something I have the patience for. I also don’t like attracting the attention of the constabulary so would prefer to not doing anything that draws to much attention either way.

Welding is definitely a good skill to have. I’m good with a stick welder and ok with Mig but I never learnt Tig although it’s definitely on my list of things to acquire. I recently added a 20ton workshop press and just picked up a 10ton hydraulic puller kit

Posts: 535Definitely is. It’s just not worth debating with the user as he fairly much is never wrong, even when he is…..
I think a lot of Commodores that have issues with broken welds in the strut towers are cars that are lowered poorly which means the bump stop gets hit a lot and that would transfer the load to the strut towers.
I like fitting strut braces as it reduces the strut tower flex. I believe it also reduces the stress of large impacts because the strut towers are tied together so it allows the loads to be transferred through the strut brace rather than all the load been applied to the single strut tower which would then flex.
