This isn’t the first time I’ve seen stories about poor workmanship from the factory in these LSx engines unfortunately.

It’s definitely consistent now, nice to see N01 at the end of the sheet :)  Well done.

Yep but it still has to get that column of fuel moving when the pressure drops at the engine and that creates a delay more so than having the regulator at the fuel rail.  I’m not saying it doesn’t work just that IMHO it’s not the best setup but certainly is cheaper for OEM with having to only run one one line up the length of the chassis.

Dead head is harder on the pump because at idle there is almost no flow and then when you suddenly nail the throttle it has to get that whole column of fuel moving that is currently sitting still in the fuel line.  Probably not so bad on a road car but when you get into high HP drag cars that can pull substantial G loads when getting out of the hole can put even more strain on that poor old pump.

No doubt both system work but my preference is return style.

VRSenator065 knows all about knows all about vapour lock from boiling fuel

I’m not a fan of the return-less fuel system.  I’d much prefer the regulator at the fuel rail so that the fuel pressure is controlled where it is most critical.

Interesting article, I wonder if that flow loss is based on a straight pipe/line only or includes the extra losses seen when you start adding in many 90° bends and/or fuel line types?

    Hi mate,

Sounds like good progress, less weight is always better than more HP when it comes to handling.

Did that other trans dipstick ever arrive?

I don’t think I could live in aussie, it’s to bloody hot for me.

It’s just over 28°C inside here with stuff all breeze and lotsa humidity and I don’t like it.  I was built for cold European winters, not this hot semi-tropical weather…..

Well then if you don’t want it I’ll certainly take it off your hands then :)

Do you know approx how long the dipstick is? (starting to formulate a plan and design a bracket to suit).

Would the th350 use the same dipstick as a 4l60e?

I like how that dipstick looks, give me an idea for mine (It looks long enough to have it coming over to the passenger side head?).

Are you using the standard MC to strut tower bracket?  Upgrading to a stronger/heavier bracket reduces firewall flex and improves pedal feel as well as maybe taking a little more load off those 2 studs.

That’s an interesting way to run your coolant lines.

I ordered some stuff from China just before Xmas and it arrived today.  Can’t complain really when when the suggested time was 3 weeks.

If that was built by who I think built it, it’ll be killer trans combo.
