Pricing, user history/trading etc, seller or purchaser feedback (if any).

Every thread contributes something to the forum, I think it’s a bit premature to start deleting thread period unless there is good justification to do so.

It would be good though if the thread title is updated with either sold, closed, withdrawn so you don’t need to read every post to see if the item is sold or still available etc

Maybe an automatic thread closure time after a set period of inactivity as I myself have been guilty of starting a FS thread (on another forum) and not closing it even when items were gone after a long period of time.

Rather than delete, just close the threads maybe?

Yep, even GM developed a one piece seal for the venerable 350 Chev motor.

It’s unfortunate the Holden didn’t develop the 253 – 308/304 more since there introduction in 1969.

Well any Yank based design which is what the Aussie V8 is based on.

^and a main bearing/lower block mounting system that would survive a direct nuclear hit compared to the Holden

Well, any V8 of that era unfortunately.

Why not do the neo seal conversion?

Nice conversion indeed.  One must wonder what they did to make the transaxle take that sort of power?

I’ve got a Harrop TT sitting on the shelf in the garage, haven’t got around to fitting it yet (so can’t comment on how it drives/behaves) but it’s a very nice bit of gear from an engineering perspective.

No Decell fuel cut doesn’t do em any favours either…

But we like flames out the exhaust pipe  B-)

Good thing my VS isn’t required to have cats……

Yep, that is the other option and the road I’ll most likely travel although it may well end up been a dual plane type manifold.

One can only dream that we could (one day) have a functioning, performance based banana type manifold to suit out engines to maintain that factory look.

Heat soak is one thing but the other is the extremely long and small diameter runners.

I think the bananas would work much better if the runners ended where they pass over the top and the hole that currently runs through the centre of the manifold became the new plenum.

    One can only dream

Cool Banana’s, that’s a contradictory statement when it comes to the Holden 304 intake manifold unfortunately :-(

The manifold met all the design requirements for the engine at that time but from a performance perspective it has been found lacking which is a shame because like you I would like to retain the manifold for the factory look (HSV VS Senator).

Doing a banana style manifold based on  the LS intake manifold but using a split design using a lower intake manifold which as the runners and coolant passages and upper with the TB, plenum and runner entries.  Then you could have either an elbow or TB coming straight of the front of the intake giving a few different cold air intake options.

I’ll follow this with interest :-)

I did something similar on the VN, on our VS I upgraded to the ball joint type links and no more stuffed link arm bushes :)

I had a sway bar link fail on my old VN, wasn’t to bad, just don’t take corners to fast or tight round-a-bouts……

I tend to agree, I have left the missus Calais at FE2 height but using after market Dobi springs which have the rear of the car sitting a little flatter than factory rake look.  I also run a 225/50/17 wheel which all combined give a  more comfortable ride on our shit quality roads than superlow springs and matching shocks.

I agree with the others that shocks and bars are really the tuning tools for suspension.

The other thing to consider is a strut brace, I find steering becomes more responsive with one fitted.

I really should try some Koni inserts, currently it’s running a combination of KYB and Munroe shockers.

The problem with re-drilling is that some of the holes overlap partially, the locating dowels I believe.

I thought there was a after market bell housing but it looks like that option is only available for manual transmissions.

Another option may be an adaptor plate http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adaptor-kit-for-Trimatic-block-to-Chev-Turbo-pattern-gear-box-Holden-V8-253-308-/141166632951

Does it drive fine when it has this idle problem?

Could be a number of things, one that springs to mind is a dodgy VSS (vehicle speed sensor) although if this is faulty it does normally throw a fault code.  The one on my Senator is a bit dodgy and won’t idle when it plays up.
