Posts: 535Yeah, right now I want to get it on and running. The cosmetic stuff can come later as time allows.
Working on getting a new job so I kinda need a running car fairly soonish……

Posts: 535Good looking cold air box there
Yep, that’s why I’m intending to go into runner 6 as close as possible to the original position.
I don’t suppose you remember what model/part number for the top radiator hose?
Put the MAT sensor in the runner. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. It caused havoc in mine when it was in the carby base. I made my own air tray. The difference was huge.

Posts: 535that’s probably the best way to go isn’t it, any idea where you can buy something like this? At worst it wouldn’t take much to fold up and fabricate a custom sheet metal one but I’d rather be lazy and just buy something if possible

Extensions for the fuel rails I’ll machine up at work. I might drill/tap into the back of the #6 runner for the MAT sensor, then it’s fairly much hidden and close to the original position so I won’t need to alter the wiring loom for that section.
I’ll check out that Lokar throttle cable bracket too. I was thinking about changing over to the V6 throttle cable as it has a different fitting which might be easier to adapt.

Posts: 535Should fit, others have fitted TP Dual plane manifolds with drop base filters and they fitted ok and the Harrop is slightly lower than the TP (about 10mm).
I have a spare bonnet here so I will cut a hole in that one and run a raised filter base for the summer for a bit of fun.

Posts: 535Headers go in from underneath but you need to drop the steering rack. Easiest done with the car on a hoist so there is plenty of room.

Posts: 535I’d say they would be overkill for the current combo, might make a little more top end if you’re lucky but loose low rpm torque. A mate recently fitted the same headers on his mild 355 with almost identical exhaust as you and noticed the above.

Posts: 535IF you have rubber fuel lines instead of the original which were a hard plastic you might not really notice a difference. With all the injectors opening and closing at the same time you can get what they call fuel hammer which is just the fuel pulsing in the fuel lines that can be heard through the chassis in really bad cases. The hard fuel lines would make this worse as there is no give in em but rubber lines can flex somewhat which can absorb some of that pulsing.

Posts: 535G-tech pro. Measures acceleration with a couple of accelerometers and using weight it can calculate power/torque. Can measure distance to so you can simulate 1/4 mile run. It’s not 100% accurate compared to actual 1/4mile run but it’s very repeatable.
edit:I should add that it measures engine rpm via it’s electrical supply and therefore can plot a use-able power curve too.

Posts: 535This is how I did my old VN. Oil pressure is mounted on the steering column where it was easy to see (just not with this camera angle).
Better angle

Posts: 535I’m told from VT onwards the 2 piece transmission lines are a larger diameter that the earlier VR/VS single case transmissions and this helps with them running cooler.

I’ve fallen in love with boost since I got my missus her supercharged Calais. Boosting my Senator one day would be awesome.

Posts: 535The add says Live in title, they are interchangeable anyways.
Not exactly, the IRS centres have a groove cut inside the side gear bore to retain the stub axle (which has a matching groove and retaining ring), LSD centres from live axle models don’t have this.

Imo that’s the whole 4L60/65 deal with decent power through them…
It does but finding a good trans builder who knows what they are doing is a good start. Even amongst trans guys they do different things to achieve the same result. Some ideas work better than others.

Posts: 535I was always of the impression that VT was the first model to get the 2 piece cases, obviously some of the last VS versions that they continued to produce after the release of the VT also copped the 2 piece case transmissions. I have a 2 piece case 4l60e (8Hxx) from a 98 VS ute sitting in the garage.
Talking to a transmission expert these later 4l60e’s are better than the first 4l60e found in the VR/VS models.
