Posts: 535looks the goods mate can’t wait to see it in the bay, not long now
Cheers, Some more braided lines and fitting to sort out for the booster vacuum and coolant bypass and it’ll be ready to bolt on.
Just thinking out loud, is it possible to remove the linkage between the two shafts and just operate on one pair of butterflies in the current set up then go the full 1375cfm once you need it later on? Might be dumb ass, just thinking your would more or less double the air speed through the two throttles which might be happier at the lower power needs?
That’s fairly much exactly what I’m going to do.
I can alter the secondary linkage to limit how far they open. I’ll use the MAP sensor to work out the optimum by how much of a vacuum it pulls at WOT through the rev range.

Posts: 535Yeah, I’m quiet happy I went with the billet alloy one instead of the cast alloy jobbie from Edelbrock.
This Aeroflow one is actually rated at 1375cfm even though it has the same venturi size as the Edelbrock @ 1.75″ but this one has much better tapered runners into the butterflies as well as the butterfly shafts have been machined down etc which may account for the extra rated flow? It really is a bit big for this engine but should be ideal for future plans.

Posts: 535So the last major piece of the puzzle has finally arrived
Now that I have that I can dummy fit it to the engine and start sorting out the wiring looms etc.

Posts: 535Do you know the injector part number?
It is very possible that those injectors flow more than standard + a higher fuel rail pressure will mean it’s getting to much fuel.

Standard pressure is 43psi with no manifold reference (at idle with the manifold reference hose fitted you will see less fuel pressure) try that and see how it goes.
BTW, what injectors are you using?

Posts: 535What is the actual pressure when the engine is running?
I’d suggest that the stock FPR with A1000 pump might be on the small side possibly causing excessive fuel pressures.
Do you have a non-return valve in the supply side after the pump but before the rail? If not that would explain why the pressure drops after priming.

Posts: 535Yea I know, sometimes I start to think, man I wish I had just gone a regular injection set up like a Fast or whatever, then I stop and look at it all nice and purdy and go “yea nah”, reckon I will try and make this work
I know what you mean, I started out doing a simple manifold swap, now I’m fitting bloody braided hoses everywhere. Where does it stop?

Posts: 535LOL, ^^^^ life is a little harder when you don’t have a common plenum as a nice source of vacuum for a regular PCV system. Such hardships you have to deal with…..

Posts: 535Who knows but the reliability of the new mosfet chip has to be an improvement even before you consider the improved power/current switching ability of said chip.

Posts: 535Ordered more Hose and fittings today, all in black (off course) so I should have everything now to complete the fuel rail/FRP install bar fittings to hook up to the hard lines which I’ll get once it’s all in the car and I can figure out the angles to make it all line up.

Posts: 535So a slight change in plans, I have gone with the Aeroflow fuel rails as they have a lower/slimmer overall profile for a slightly cleaner/tidier look and it will also make future plans a little easier. The brackets supplied with the rails are to fit the factory manifold, I’ll end up making some more that will bolt the rails directly to the manifold to make it look a little tidier again.
Just need to order some more hose and fittings to mount the FPR (Turbosmart 800) and complete that part of the swap.
