Posts: 535Very nice indeed. I do have a soft spot for the old girls.
I too would like to have a VK as a daily run-a-bout one day.
RVK plates, why do they seem familiar?

Posts: 535I’d be looking at either leaking injectors and/or leaking intake manifold gaskets. Does it use any coolant at all?
The other possibility is the fuel system isn’t holding pressure (either the non-return valve in the fuel pump or the Fuel Pressure Regulator on the Fuel Rain). Another possibility (but much less likely) is the PCM signal for the fuel pump relay isn’t working and it’s not getting any fuel pressure until the engine has been cranked over a bit to get enough oil pressure and trigger the fuel pump relay.
Most common problems though are leaky injectors and stuffed intake gaskets.

Posts: 535Thanks Gtrboyy is the cost the reason you wouldn’t go coil overs again or is it a bitch to set up. I am getting drop tank and filler will be at the back behind the number plate with the number plate hinge of a torana so twin pipes one either side of tank Hey cava in NZ we just need to get it certified and someone that has a welding ticket to sign the work off I have an engineer mate who build of road 4 wheel drives so he know how to work out the geometry
Have you discussed this with an actual LVVTA certifier?
Yes it can be done but the original factory shock mount was never designed to handle the full weight of the car so some reinforcement will be required. Your best bet is to discuss with your local LVVTA certifier before doing any work as they will be able to tell you what is required so you don’t end up doing things twice. Off road vehicles are different and not necessarily built to the same rules/regulations as road registered vehicles.

Posts: 535How old is the fluid? Just because it doesn’t smell burnt doesn’t mean it isn’t past due for a change. Good fluid is pink in colour, by the time it’s a deep red colour it’s getting to the end of it’s service life.
Last time I had a transmission fully serviced (full flush fluid change) it was much smoother afterwards.
Play in the diff can also seem like a transmission issue, our old VS had a well worn single spinner that would thump bigtime in the mornings when going into reverse.

Posts: 535The info is still out there in cyber land, once something is posted online it is there for eternity on servers that keep copies of everything. Just a bit harder to find.

You can say what you like about JC but they are still here and evolving where SC is no longer and there were plenty of tossers on that forum too. Plenty of good people and info on JC you just need to ignore the idiots. My point was that magazine had the finances to run a forum properly but chose not to because the writers were more interested in milking the sponsors to further there own goals instead of looking after the readers and forum members. That magazine went stale years ago!

<p style=”text-align: left;”>i tried but I gave up in the end.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>The fact they got rid of tapatalk didn’t help either. I don’t have a PC so it’s all on the phone

I agree, I take it in short bursts….
The problem was taptalk had/does have serious issues with security and can understand why it was dropped.
JC recently upgraded the forum software so it’s a fair bit different in how it looks now.

Posts: 535That’s exactly it though, there were plenty of guys working for the SC mag who could have spent just a little time in their day to moderate the forum but chose not too, many of the fomumites where also magazine readers so it says a hell of a lot about what they think of their readership too.

Posts: 535The sad part is that they were paid as part of a special interest magazine and couldn’t be bothered to maintain the forum…..
JC is much better run and they are all volunteers……
To me it seemed the writers were only interested in the magazine to further their own projects using magazine sponsors!

Posts: 535You see that on a lot of forums unfortunately (user with singular posts and no follow up).
I’ve donated to some forums but simply can’t donate to all, need to draw the line somewhere unfortunately but then contribute in other ways.

Posts: 535I don’t suppose you could post up the dimensions of your drop box? Contacted my preferred supplier and they can have a shifter here for me when ever I want it
The more I think about the more I’m keen to do the same.
