It made plenty of power too in stock form but that doesn’t stop us from modifying it to make more.
BTW, what is more important, pressure of flow?

Well not a must but every time the flow does a 90° turn there is a certain amount of flow/pressure loss (LJ will know the numbers) so to achieve a certain pressure/flow at the end of the system you need more pressure/flow to compensate at the start of the system to compensate for that loss.

Not that oil pressure is a problem on these engines but I would have used a die grinder and made some nice radius’s on the oil galleries in the block and oil pump fittings. Every little bit helps.

That’s come up mint. I suggest it spends a bit of time in the wifes oven to help seal/harden the paint

Unfortunately that doesn’t just apply to LSx engines, fairly much everything these days need to be checked.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen stories about poor workmanship from the factory in these LSx engines unfortunately.

It’s definitely consistent now, nice to see N01 at the end of the sheet :) Well done.

Yep but it still has to get that column of fuel moving when the pressure drops at the engine and that creates a delay more so than having the regulator at the fuel rail. I’m not saying it doesn’t work just that IMHO it’s not the best setup but certainly is cheaper for OEM with having to only run one one line up the length of the chassis.

Dead head is harder on the pump because at idle there is almost no flow and then when you suddenly nail the throttle it has to get that whole column of fuel moving that is currently sitting still in the fuel line. Probably not so bad on a road car but when you get into high HP drag cars that can pull substantial G loads when getting out of the…[Read more]

I’m not a fan of the return-less fuel system. I’d much prefer the regulator at the fuel rail so that the fuel pressure is controlled where it is most critical.

Interesting article, I wonder if that flow loss is based on a straight pipe/line only or includes the extra losses seen when you start adding in many 90° bends and/or fuel line types?

Hi mate,
Sounds like good progress, less weight is always better than more HP when it comes to handling.
Did that other trans dipstick ever arrive?
