Posts: 585Just spoke to Castle Hill Performance. They said 800 for a tune, and said I’d have issues with noise during engineering and said they would throw a cheap system on for engineering for about 500, then put a twin 2.5 to single 3.5 over the diff once its engineered, that would be about 1200.
decisions decisions. Do I get a cheap system for engineering, then sell it and get a better system done? Or get a decent one done now and try to get the sound down…

Posts: 585Spoke to two workshops today about tuning. Both are around the 900 buck mark for a tune. Also asked about an exhaust, one shop said about 1700 for a full system including cats, I called a local exhaust shop who quoted 1200. Both said to go with twin 2.5 inch into single 3 inch over the diff, both said any bigger would cause clearance problems as there isn’t much room over the diff. Anyone see any flow issues with that size? I have 1 3/4 tri y headers so the size might work with my setup.

Posts: 585Brake lines are gonna be my next mission. Lucky I was smart enough to wait until virtually everything is in the bay before doing them, like the pros do.

Posts: 585Dunno. I’ll look at where to position it and see if I can get a decent spot probably going to get my brake calipers rebuilt. Local shop wants 110 bucks per caliper
do the callipers yourself its easy cost 20 buck for the kit and that’s for a pair , can you go to a map sensor and ditch the maf on the factory ecu
i need to run a maf for engineering, not even sure if it will be turned off when it’s tuned but it has to be there

Posts: 585Installed the sensors and the air box on the weekend. There isn’t much room for the intake pipe, I might have to run it down from the throttle body and under the radiator hose to get smoother bends and include the MAF.
After all the mucking around with getting a radiator with the outlets on the correct sides, the intake would have been easier to run if the top hose was on the drivers side. Typical.

Posts: 585Yeah I’d prefer an alloy pipe. I’ll install the air box over the weekend and have a think about what to do.
On a side note, my new o2 sensors have arrived. My harness still has the wiring for the rear o2 sensors that run after the cat, are these still used? I thought tuners turned them off when they install high flow cats.

Posts: 585A few deliveries have arrived, the knock sensor and the Mace air box kit. The kit didn’t include an intake hose, I wasn’t planning on using it but I’m sure I seen it advertised as part of their kit. Anyhow, I’ve been thinking about what to use for the intake pipe, I’ve got a 90 degree bend from the throttle body already, then the pipe will need to follow an S pattern to go over the top radiator hose then angle down and straighten out get to the MAF on the hole on the side of the air box. I should be able to use two 45 degree silicone elbows to get the angle I need, but would it look weird having the entire intake pipe basically one long silicone hose? Should I get something fabbed out of alloy pipe? I don’t really want to be spending hundreds on a 50cm long intake pipe. Any suggestions?

Posts: 585Got a quick vid while it was running. Didnt have the booster vacuum line connected, it sounded like it was cammed until I blocked the port. Idles pretty smooth.

Posts: 585Cost me 255 delivered. Comes with a pod filter and intake pipe, but I’ll replace the intake pipe with something that looks neater.
Great success this weekend. Replaced the red o ring with a new blue one, installed an oil pickup brace that uses two bolts instead of the factory single bolt, and replaced the sump gasket. Didn’t prime the oil pump, turned it over with no plugs for two 15 second bursts with no pressure, then as soon as I hit the key the third time it jumped to 20 psi. Put the plugs in and connected the fuel pump, it fired straight up and jumped to 40 at idle. Let it idle for about 15 minutes, no leaks. Topped up the trans with fluid but didn’t run it through the gears yet cause the brakes aren’t done. Dash is working except the tacho.

Posts: 585I’ve always used the Blue rings, never measured them but I thought the Red one was smaller..
The red one is about 1mm thicker than the blue one. When I gave Troy from Warspeed a rundown of my setup and what was happening, as soon as I said I was using the red one he said thats the wrong one, the blue one will sort it out. Fingers crossed thats all I need to do.
Good to see you hopefully have it resolved, always nice to put a name to a username
Indeed it is, as good as this forum is, it’s also handy to have instant comments on Facebook with people chiming in with opinions on what the problem could be. Yes there are a variety of different solutions, but it helps you start to track down what’s happening and can give you suggestions that you haven’t thought of

Posts: 585Yeah that was me. I spoke to Troy at Warspeed this morning, he said I’m using the wrong o ring. I’m using the red one, he said I need the blue one as the red one is thicker and would be squishing out of the recess and letting air in.
