Could just get a safety check done while you wait, just an inspection and check of nuts/bolts etc. Can do oils and plugs yourself, that way they don’t have it for too long and wont be out for a test drive

I’m leaning towards a local shop that quoted 1200 for a twin 2.5 into single 3 inch. A few mates have recommended him and he sounded like a decent bloke over the phone. There’s a local car show on this Sunday arvo, he’ll be there with his VK, so I’ll pop up and have a chat.

Wouldnt hurt to have a mechanic give it the once over. I’ll be doing the same when mine gets tuned, I’ll get them to go over everything from top to bottom to make sure everything is done up properly and no wiring or lines are too close to be rubbed or burnt, not to mention a wheel alignment and balance.

Cheers Gary, I’ll do some googling on them. Might help me get it through engineering so I can go with one decent system from the start.

Just spoke to Castle Hill Performance. They said 800 for a tune, and said I’d have issues with noise during engineering and said they would throw a cheap system on for engineering for about 500, then put a twin 2.5 to single 3.5 over the diff once its engineered, that would be about 1200.

Also asked about an exhaust, one shop said about 1700 for a full system including cats, I called a local exhaust shop who quoted 1200. Brake lines are gonna be my next mission. Lucky I was smart enough to wait until virtually everything is in the bay before doing them, like the pros do.

i need to run a maf for engineering, not even sure if it will be turned off when it’s tuned but it has to be there

Dunno. I’ll look at where to position it and see if I can get a decent spot

probably going to get my brake calipers rebuilt. Local shop wants 110 bucks per caliper

Installed the sensors and the air box on the weekend. There isn’t much room for the intake pipe, I might have to run it down from the throttle body and under the radiator hose to get smoother bends and include the MAF.

Yeah I’d prefer an alloy pipe. I’ll install the air box over the weekend and have a think about what to do.

On a side note, my new o2 sensors have arrived. My harness still has the wiring for the rear o2 sensors that run after the cat, are these still used? I thought tuners turned them off when they install high flow cats.

Cheers fellas, was a massive relief seeing pressure come up on the gauge, been a while since I’ve felt that anxious about something

Got a quick vid while it was running. Didnt have the booster vacuum line connected, it sounded like it was cammed until I blocked the port. Idles pretty smooth.
