Anyone know if the nuts are meant to go on a certain way? the nuts are tapered on one side, looks like it centres the k frame when the nut gets tight, but when i try to put the nut on that way, it doesn’t seem to go on properly, the thread starts fine but stops just past half way like the threads are dirty, but it happens on all four bolts.

I tried a rattle gun on it with no luck, it ended up spinning the bolt

I like the look of them, plus it was a drunken purchase and I cant back out now haha.

It will be of use at some point, down the track I want to whack on either a blower or a single turbo with a Holley high rise manifold, both will pop through the bonnet.

Time for another weekend update. Got the cowl mounted. Used some Sikaflex from Bunnings and eleventy billion tek screws to hold the edges down to get a good seal. Yep I agree. Collecting different tools along the way while building the VK is a nice side hobby. First time in ages I’m looking forward to cleaning up the garage cause I get to put everything in my chest lol

Anyone have any tips on organising my new tool chest? The plan is to combine all my loose tools scattered around my garage to make it easier to find something and to free up some shelf space for storage.

Was thinking about a drawer each for screwdrivers, spanners, sockets, pliers and electrical stuff, power tools, air tools etc.

Ideally you’d wet the floor to prevent dust. I knew I was going to sand it back to get rid of imperfections so I didn’t really bother, just made sure I swept my garage floor before starting. Weekend update: Got the front guards and boot lid painted. Came up pretty good considering they were done in a dusty shed. Pulled the old k frame apart to get the lower control arms off and the old bushes pressed out. They were a prick to do. I needed a late model one as my one was for a carby motor. Using a later model one means I can run an upgraded in tank fuel pump and external filter/regulator without needing a surge tank. Wasn’t the engineers idea, I did heaps of research and that setup was tried and tested, plus it’s simple to do.

I love doing myself …. hahahaha

Yep the pics make it hard to see all the runs, it was shocking in person. Surface prep is the key, and the temperature. My garage got to 19 degrees at most while painting, couldn’t get hold of some heat lamps in time which would of helped.
