Still no car. The drivers side of the dash is done, new fuse box mounted, gotta do the rest of the dash and run the battery cables. Baby steps.

The new bonnet needs some work, but it doesn’t have any rust or holes. It has a couple of small dents that will need either some massaging or bog, or both, but other than that it’s better than the other one

I suppose you get to enjoy it for a bit every 6 months between blistering heat and freezing cold hahaha

a couple of those whirly bird things on the roof might help draw some of the hot air out

I bought a harness from CAE. Had all the bits needed but my auto electrician had to change a few things and tidy it up. You’d be best off getting a sparky to modify the factory one to work on your ute. The CAE one had a fuse box for the fuel pump, thermo, ecu, and a few other bits and pieces.

On a side note, just bought another bonnet off a VK for a hundred bucks. I think my one is going to be a lot of work trying to get the cowl mounted and fill the trim holes on the front edge (it was off a VH). I’ll strip this one back and leave it stock. For now haha.

Dropped in to see the sparky on Monday. Backyard spray booths are the best ever hahaha. I wouldn’t be too fussed about the first coat looking crap, the first coat on my engine bay looked pretty average as well, but the next couple went on and it looked awesome once it started to cover the primer and the white really became brighter

Looks good Cava. Progress is progress, no matter how small. I feel your pain with the headers, I’ve got pretty much the smallest headers for an LS swap and still had to bash them in with a hammer to get enough clearance. If I end up going for a blower down the track I’d get a set custom made.

Boxing Day sale on at Supercheap, grabbed some DBA T2 slotted front rotors and Bendix pads for $218, they had 30% off everything in store. Wanted to grab some rear discs and pads as well but they don’t have the older stuff in store, has to be ordered in. The rears aren’t too pricey so I’ll grab them in a week or two when I put the diff in

Supercheap have a 2 day sale on at the moment so i grabbed some fluids. Got 10 litres of Penrite HPR 5 5W-40, 8 litres of Penrite DX-III trans fluid, Ryco oil filter and 6 litres of Nulon coolant for 200 bucks. All except the filter was 30% off.

Thanks guys. Yeah Cava, Paul built the box, what i mentioned is what he told me. He said jack the rear up and run it through all gears once i’ve got fluid in it to make sure all gears are engaging properly, and just keep adding fluid until the dipstick reads full.

Thats the plan over the Chrissy break, as long as the car’s back from the sparky.

Small update, the sparky has redone the engine loom and tidied it up, re-ran the starter cables to the correct side, and re-wrapped it all. Looks neat:

Diff is done and is being sent today. Upper arms will be sent later cause they’re waiting for stock.

I’m using the E38 controller. The sparky is mounting everything under the dash. I’ll check in with him next week to see how it’s going. How did you mount the FBW pedal?

He needs to LS it hahaha. Or get IJ to throw an AWD setup under it
